Arietty: New Miyazaki Movie!

I am FLIPPING OUT my friends. More so than usual. I discovered last week, via Marvelous Kiddo, that a brand new Miyazaki movie is coming down the pike, slated for U.S. release mid-February 2012!

If you recall from this post, we are huge, huge Miyazaki fans around here. ‘Ponyo’? Love it. ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’? Double love it. ‘My Neighbor Totoro’? Are we still having a conversation about how much love is going on here?

And the film is based on ‘The Borrowers’ by Mary Norton!

Unfamiliar with this classic? Here’s a rundown of the story, moved to a Japanese setting:

You can check out the trailer here (The film was released in the UK this past summer, lucky them!):

I am so excited! I hope that it will be okey-dokey for Julia to see! What about you, any big time Miyazaki fans out there? Which one is your favorite? For me, I would say ‘Totoro’; Julia probably loves ‘Kiki’ more.

  1. I haven't seen any of the Miyazaki movies, but they look so cute - especially this one. I used to love The Borrowers. The synopsis of Arrietty looks so cute!

  2. Okay, so this doesn't have anything to do with your post... Buuuuuut... have you heard of Zulily? I saw that they were having a Hello Kitty event today (up to 60% off) and thought of you. Here's an invite in case you're not a member: :)

  3. Thanks Michelle!!! 'My Neighbor Totoro' is one of the coolest films I've ever seen in my life, period. 'Spirited Away' is amazing as well, but definitely for older kids, 7 or 8 plus. That one stayed with me for a week after I saw it. I'm not a Zulily member so again, thanks, I will DEFINITELY go check that out!! xo, Melissa

  4. You're welcome! :) I'm going to have to check out both of those movies. :D
