Cool Stuff I Like

Well my sweeties, this was the sun setting on our Lake Chelan vacation, and I think the sun is setting on our summer as well. It’s September. It’s getting darker earlier. Leaves are changing here and there. BUT! Fun things are afoot. My baby starts Kindergarten. Rad autumn books. A whole month of Halloweeny books in October. We’re going to have ourselves a good time!

Items of Extreme Coolness I’ve been thinking about this week:

I am so happy to have ‘met’ lovely Vanessa over at her blog, Silly Eagle Books. She loves children’s books as much as I do! And her daughter’s name is Juliet, don’t you love it? She wrote about these Storybook Tea Sets and I am now OBSESSED.

I want to try this Peanut Butter, Banana, and Cinnamon Milkshake. (via TheMotherHuddle.com)

Don’t these felt star garlands look so cheerful and fun? I want some for Julia’s room. (via Enjoying the Small Things)

Remember my Cool Coloring Books post? I forgot to add Johnny Joe’s Time Travel Coloring Book.

Cool Book of the Week: ‘Pickle Chiffon Pie’. I saw this at my sweet friend Jenny’s house; it is so funny and darling. It’s a refreshing spin on the traditional fairy tale format.

Summer’s technically not over yet folks. It’s not too late for a MERMAID PARTY! You’re going to want to tuck this one away in your inspiration file, promise.

I picked up this issue of Real Simple Family magazine – it’s FANTASTIC – so many great ideas, articles and recipes. I love it when a publication doesn’t waste my time and has a ton of awesome in it. I was going to do a feature post on it and then realized I’d be regurgitating the entire magazine because EVERYTHING in it was cool!

HAVE A GREAT LONG WEEKEND! I’ll have a little something for you on Labor Day, if you want to stop by. And then some cute back-to-school books to discuss!

  2. Whaaaaa? Real Simple has a family magazine? I had no idea! I love Real Simple, even though I don't get to read it as often as I'd like. I'm going to have to hunt down a copy of their family magazine now. :)

Michelle -- I think this is is a special issue, not one that is published regularly. You must pick one up! I was amazed at how great everything in it was! ~Melissa

  6. Pinterest? You mean, the greatest invention ever to hit mankind? (or internet addicts like me?) Yes I'm on it! I haven't had my IT person (aka my husband Andrew) install that icon on my page here yet. But here's my link, hopefully it will take you there! I'm listed as Melissa@Julia'sBookbag. http://pinterest.com/juliabookbag/
