Happy Birthday Dr.Seuss!

Double posting today because I didn't want to leave you hanging without a Friday COOL STUFF list, but I had to make sure we gave Many Happy Returns of the day to Mr. Theodor Suess Geisel, aka Dr. Suess.

LOVE 'I Wish That I Had Duck Feet' -- such a fun one that we read all the time.

I'm dying to check out this just-released last year (in 2011) book, 'The Bippolo Seed':

Seven stories that were considered 'lost' and/or rarely seen, have been put together in this collection! I cannot wait to read this one with Miss Julia!

Do you have a favorite Dr. Seuss book? Mine is 'I Can Read With My Eyes Shut' just because it refers to a creature called "Foo-Foo the Snoo."

  1. We LOOOOOOVE "I Wish I Had Duck Feet"! We don't own it, but have checked it out at the library several times. It's one of those books that is fun just saying the words. Does that make sense? It has a nice rhythm to it and the story is super fun.

  4. There is nothing like Seuss's sense of wackyness... I really liked Bippolo Seed. It's not a sit down and read all at once kind of seuss- but it's wonderful. I still need to get a copy of my own though. I have a hard time choosing a favorite (as usual) but I do love love love Horton Hatches the Egg because "It should be, it should be, it SHOULD be like that" I remember the first time Trapper read that story how surprised he was by the ending! I loved his reaction!

  9. When we go into a restaurant and they ask for our name for the wait list, I always supress the urge to say, "Knixie Knox" (from his abc book) because I think that is the best name ever and I wish it were my own.
