Whole Living

May 3, 2012

Whole Living is one of my favorite magazines. Healthy things, good ideas, recipes -- I always feel better after I sit down with an issue. I'm not sure why I love magazines so much. I don't regularly purchase hardly any of them anymore but I used to subscribe to a whole fleet. Seriously, back in the day when I used to get Domino and Cookie -- happy times! And when I got Victoria mag (WAY back in the day), I used to feel the same way -- my favorite magazines arriving were totally like presents in the mail.

I used to have a subscription to Whole Living, but I let it lapse, now I just grab it when an issue looks particularly intriguing -- trying to cut down on my clutter and expenses, you know how it goes. But I grabbed the latest issue, it was speaking to me.

So many cool things this month...tons of gardening tips and recipes using garden veggies, as well as some great book suggestions. 'The Uninvited Guests' by Sadie Jones looks like a really super cool book. I think I need to start thinking about my Summer Reading and this one just jumped to the top o' the list. Its been described as a cross between Downton Abbey and the Twilight Zone, set in England, with a few ghosts thrown in. OH YEAH, I'M SO THERE!

There's an article about clutter that I'm going to read a few half dozen times. I'm always fighting the clutter battle. Always. So I had to get a magazine that talks about clutter, while the sad fact is that the magazine itself will add to my clutter. The irony.

Anyone else out there a magazine junkie? Which ones do you like?

  1. Ug, I am a total magazine junkie as well. I loved domino and cookie--I also used to get Dwell which I liked a lot. Now I get Lucky, Elle Decor, and InStyle--but used to get ReadyMade and a few other crafty type magazines...so many magazines...so little time...

    1. Love Lucky! Used to get that one for awhile. Love InStyle! My ma used to get that one and I would steal it. I'm also big into House Beautiful. I would totally subscribe to Elle Decor, but it's so BIG. Also for awhile I was getting Bon Appetit and Gourmet. Have I mentioned that I really like Sunset now? I feel like such a grandma. No offense all your grandmas! It just always struck me as such an 'elderly' mag when I was a little girl. It's totally great!

  2. I am notorious ripping recipes out of magazines-- in the fictional plan that I will eventually make all that delicious stuff. So then, instead of the pile of magazines, I instead have dozens of ripped pages floating around... everywhere... I might need to check out that clutter article, and memorize it!

    1. I have a whole stack of ripped out sheets too! Once I got a binder for the express purpose of putting in those ripped out sheets. Binder is still empty.....:)

    1. I'm so intrigued by the book Miss B -- some folks on Amazon didn't like it because they thought the supernatural angle was too weird, but that's the main draw for me :)

I feel healthier too after reading WL! I just need to get a bit better about actually IMPLEMENTING the healthy things I read about....

  4. Ohmygosh, Victoria mag! You just took me back! I use to devour that magazine. Have you checked out Canadian House & Home? That's a great design mag. I'm sure you would love it. Domino and Cookie Mag R.I.P.

    1. I've heard SUCH great things about that mag, Keely! I think I need to get my hands on that one -- I keep seeing all these great design pix here there and everywhere and they inevitably are from Canadian H & H. I wonder if it's hard to find....
