East Dragon, West Dragon

August 15, 2012

I just became aware of the artwork of Scott Campbell. After some some digging around, I found out that along with Robyn Eversole, he has created 'East Dragon, West Dragon', an amazing looking picture book about two very different dragons learning to understand each other. It came out earlier in 2012, but Scott's work in comics, video games and books is prolific, renowned and found in exhibitions all over the world. In short, his stuff is AWESOME. (His latest book, 'The Great Showdowns', will be released this October.)

Take a peek! I think you're going to be as happily amazed as I was. His work is what I would call uniquely cute...with an edge.

Julia is going to think all of this is neato mosquito! Especially this last picture, because she has somehow become strangely fascinated/terrified of The Hulk. (She saw a kid Hulk costume in a catalog and could not stop talking about it, which is what she does when she's intrigued and kinda freaked out by a topic.)

Waaaaaay cool stuff, don't you think? These images came from Scott's website, and you can find even more to goggle at over there....

  3. I've read Zombie in Love, but I'm not familiar with East Dragon, West Dragon!! It looks wonderful! I wish we had it in the library, because I'm in the process of putting together a "Dragon Storytime" for this coming Sunday... Oh well. Will have to order it nonetheless :)
