Off to a Wedding

Just a short drop in today – I don’t know about you but these last few weeks of summer have been insane. It’s like everyone realized that Summer is On Its Way Out and we’re all flying around like headless chickens. (Sorry for that imagery.)

So here’s Miss J wearing her first pair of white patent shoes. We had a family wedding to attend. I remember when I used to wear shoes like that when I was small. My mom of course, was involved with this. My ma is obsessed with shoes. She buys my fancy shoes. She buys Julia’s fancy shoes. It makes her happy, bless her. I guess it’s a good thing because otherwise we’d be wearing flip flops to weddings, because THAT’S HOW I ROLL. I am not obsessed with shoes or handbags. I’m a very girly girl but I don’t care much about footwear and purses. Not sure why. Am I supposed to?

The last pic, well let’s just say that this is what one gets when one very nicely asks Andrew and his twin brother for a nice photo. So what is one to do? I warned them that it was going on the blog if they didn’t cooperate. And here we are.

Cheeky devils.

  1. They are cheeky! That's hilarious!!! Also I am right with you about shoes and handbags. Those are two things that I just don't care much about at all. Never have. I let my sisters dress me and accessorize for me by way of hand me downs. That's how I like it- then I don't have to think about it.

  2. Oh! And Juliet's smile with that missing tooth is absolutely wonderful and perfect for a little girl starting the first grade! I love it!

  3. Omigosh, shoes and bags! I am the worst. I have actually borrowed one of the girls' toy purses for a wedding, because it looked much nicer than the one - ONE purse - I own and carry. (And it didn't look like a toy.) And shoes, so not my thing.

I agree with Robyn, I LOVE Julia's smile! What a fantastic shot! And what else can you say about the last photo... It made me giggle. :o)

  4. I looooove those little shoes. I don't have a shoe obsession (I have two pairs that I wear regularly, that's it, though in my life before kids I did enjoy buying shoes every once in a while) but those little patent shoes remind me of my girlhood. My mom always made sure I had a pair for church and I remember wearing them with those bobby socks that had lace or pearl trim. Faaaaancy!

Oh, and I love that last shot. It reminds me of my hubby and his brother. You can't put them in the same photo without all sorts of goofiness. :)

    1. i used to walk around in my patent shoes listening to the clicking they made -- I think I would have loved tap shoes!

yes, the Zoolander Blue Steel poses often emerge when they are in the same shot....:)

    2. I took tap for a year when I was in the fifth grade. I WAS IN HEAVEN! I still remember the beautiful sound those tap shoes made on our hardwood floors... at the dance studio... on the patio... um, yeah, I wore them everywhere I could!

  6. I have exactly one purse. And the only thing worse than shoe shopping is bathing suit shopping. When you have a baby with you. Which I did recently. :(

    1. ugh I recently did that too, w/o a baby -- but i did it mail order. and b/c I didn't know what size to get, I had to order 2 sizes and now I have to go return some stuff, which is a pain. I need an old fashioned bathing smock, like in the 20's -- with a parasol -- then I won't get burny and rashy, which is always what happens when I poke a toe into strong sun....

  8. Miss J is adorable! I love her outfit and shoes! I am so not into bags/shoes/fashion either. My kid gets his fancy outfits from the aunties! I think my future baby will too! You have a lovely family!
