Halloween Happened!

and here’s how it went down…

P1030230_DSC0018P1030258_DSC0022_DSC0024(i’m really super excited to put up Christmas decorations this weekend! no joke. that’s only a little crazy right? actually I'm already well down the road of becoming Crazy Christmas Woman ~ I've already been checking out Christmas books from the library. Andrew said this wasn't quite fair. I totally disagree. My response: GET THERE BEFORE ME, PEOPLE, if you want the books. Also, multiple copies ~ hi. It's not like I'm running away with the one and only copy of a book! Although that wouldn't stop me either. I'm pure book evil. How's that for Halloween horror? She's taken all the holiday books from the library! )

P1030261Thought you might enjoy seeing how the 'rents dressed up to go with our kiddo's 'Merida' costume...

PicMonkey Collage2(Andrew would like you all to know he was a most unwilling participant. And he thinks he would need another 200 lbs or so to be an accurate King Fergus. I shoulda given him a sword, maybe then I would have gotten a smile.)

PicMonkey Collage2(I dutifully parted my hair in the middle. My hair doesn’t part in the middle. First I wore my necklace up high. Then I moved it down to my waist to be more medievally.)

Andrew was both impressed and horrified that I was able to find several costumes just by walking into my closet and going through my OWN CLOTHES. I had the velvety ensemble you see here, as well as an outfit that I like to call ‘Hawaiian Flight Attendant’. I also have a dress that could be construed as Japanese Temple Ninja Prayer Person. I have no idea what that means. A Japanese nun? It’s some black, v-neck dress thing with side ties. It looks like a Japanese Temple Ninja Prayer Person, that’s the only way I can describe it.

_DSC0010(Andrew carved this because he’s a pumpkin carving wizard. )

And that there was our Halloween, my spookies!

    1. Ha ha! I think I might just put one strand of lights up somewhere ~ I had an epiphany that there is still more fall decor I have not yet brought into being....;)

    1. she has a pretty small pile actually -- we don't live in a huge neighborhood ~ I'm wondering when she'll realize that her loot is pretty paltry and ask to go trick or treating in a bigger neighborhood -- I made that leap around age 8....

  4. This post is so awesome in so many ways! First of all, kuddos for all your beautiful costumes! You all looked fabulous and good call about the vampire outfit for school. My boy was Obi-Wan Kenobi with a cape and let me tell you that it was a nightmare to keep that cape from sweeping the floor!

Second, the pumpkin carving is just incredible!

Third, my boy started the peace sign about 5 months ago and I still don't know why but it always resurface whenever I take a picture O_o

And last but not least, CHRISTMAS DECORATION FTW! :D Let it begin!

    1. She is WAY into the trend of the peace sign! She just loves it! I found a cute winter hat with a peace sign on it that I'm going to get for her....Andrew is amazing at carving! He's really clever with it. I would slice off my entire hand if I made the attempt :)

I think I might try making the bird mobile that is the Vintage Tea Party book -- that book I wrote about the other day -- that seems fall-esque -- and I'll content myself with making fall leaf decorations for awhile...but the DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING... Christmas!!

  5. Kudos on the costumes! You are all SO cool to get in on the fun. I did don a witches hat but that's as good as it got. After getting three children all costumed I don't have much left for the adults. lame.

love both Julia and Andrew's witches!

  9. Ok things that I love about this post in no particular order:

    Julia's Peace signs...hello Asian influence!
That Halloween cat! such a cool decoration.
Andrew's beard which is only slightly less awesome than King Fergus'
Julia's wig...which goes with out saying
That you make the PERFECT queen mama bear lady (what was her name again?)
Your costume closet! I hear ya sister!

Ok...that wasn't me loving every single thing you posted in that post was it?....ok it was, but you guys are just so cool!

    1. Miss Bonnie!!! Oh how I've missed you! I feel very badly about taking a break from Pink Sparkle Fun, I felt like that was our bonding space :) -- I need to get more kawaii and asian influence fun over here to take up the slack!

(also, actually I am the antithesis of cool. totally and completely. I am however, very loud. hee)
