A bit of a shorty today. Some elements to our fall thus far ~ apples, oatmeal with cream and almonds, leaf garland making with grandma, CROWS, a dancing girl and pretty colors everywhere. (Where's Andrew? He has a whole post devoted to him, coming next week. He is thrilled.)

Random question: have you guys made anything recipe-wise this fall that you just loooved and would like to share with me? Because I would love to hear about it! Or any good books? My friend Danzel loved this book!

  1. Well, with our pumpkins now chopped up, I've been making Jamie Olivers Pumpkin Laksa soup. (from the Jamies Dinners book) Curryish and creamy and yum. And filling - it has rice in it too. I just got my kids food flasks for school, so am in the first flush of enthusiasm for soup making! Hope it lasts!

    1. And where can I find that recipe, Miss Robyn? is it online or in a cookbooky?

Oh that road, it's amazing! I took that pic near the University of Washington, there are some fabulous tree lined streets there...:)

  4. That oatmeal looks so gooooooood. Alas, I must do dishes before I can cook. (It's been that kind of week so far.) I love your apple picture and tree-lined street! So beautiful. We still have colors here, but I can see the brown starting to settle in. I was just remarking to the hubby the other day that the birds seem to have migrated already. I haven't seen too many. And I loved that book. I'm reading The Witch Family now, without the girls. It's so cute!

  6. I love all of your photos...especially the tree lined street with pretty leaves and Julia is adorable as always! I made spicy black bean soup (so great for Fall) and a delicious pumpkin chocolate chip bread. The recipes can be found on my blog or I can email you.

  7. Love all this! Its so perfectly fall! And that oatmeal looks so so yummy!~
Recently I attended an "apple and pumpkin" party where each person brought a dish having to do with either of these foods. Someone brought a pumpkin lasagne and it was SO. GOOD. It sounds a little odd, but I was obsessed and begged the girl for her secrets ;)
Basically you just make a regular lasagne but instead of marinara use canned pumpkin, add some mushrooms and onions and cheese...cook and...instant heaven!

Also, we love the Tasha Tudor Cookbook! Although I bet you already know about that one!
