Watercolors

November 12, 2012

I took a walk with Andrew the other day and I was blown away by the beautiful pictures the autumn trees made in the water (we were walking close by to a small river)...Andrew's favorite is the fourth one down ~ mine is the very last one. I so hope you enjoy!

I think the first shot looks a bit as if someone drew an Impressionist painting in the water. I will never, never, never get over the beauty that is autumn. This year was stunning, largely due to the fact that we had such a sunny and clear September, with chilly nights.

I've realized however, that Fall is not the most motivating time for me, since all I want to do is pull a blanket over my head, but there is so much to DO ~ I'm thinking of starting to wrap a few Christmas presents, just so that when December 1 rolls around, I'll be a little less behind than I usually am...

(UPDATE: I want you all to know that Andrew and I nearly burst something debating over whether to use the title "Reflections of Fall" or "Watercolors" -- we decided 'Watercolors' sounded less like a terrible movie and wasn't so melodramatic. Someday I'll install a little camera and tape us discussing blog stuff and you will see what really goes on here. Most of it is us laughing our heads off and saying highly inappropriate things for a Kid Lit blog.)

    1. Jenny, here's how I really wanted to write this post --

YO CHECK OUT MY RAD PHOTOGRAPHY PEEPS! Word.

I went thru a lot of education to write that well. :)

(and thanks lady! great idea with the blowing up, I've got some of my dad's underwater Hawaii pix blown up at my house and this would be fun to add to it. Also, one of your paintings. Someday it's gonna happen...I loved your most recent batch....)

  2. Okay, it took me a second to realize I was looking at photographs! Those are awesome! The first two look very Monet-like.

    1. Thanks D!! That's what I told Andrew, that they looked like Monets! I took these with my Lumix point and shoot camera, which was a hand me down from my dad, who does a lot of underwater ocean semi-pro work as a hobby. The only reason I use the word semi is b/c he's a fulltime attorney. He could easily go pro, he's amazing and has been taking great stuff for 35 yrs. Anyway, he saw these and handed me another one of his handmedowns (cuz right now I'm with him in Hawaii remember?), a higher level DSLR than my current Nikon, and said, you're ready to start learning to use this! (I'm not so sure, I barely have figured out anything on my current Nikon...)

  4. Your photos are so beautiful. I thought the first one was really a painting until I read what it was all about. I love autumn but then again each season has it's own charm. Except summer which is way too hot down here!

  9. Those pictures are stunning! I was actually confused at first because I thought you took a walk and went home and painted the pictures of what you saw, and then I was thinking, wow that's kind of intense. Love it!
