Some Pink for Christmas

I am here to tell you all that I have felt and experienced true winter coziness, and it comes in the form of PINK flannels with snowpeople on them. Two years I waited for these flannel sheets from Garnet Hill for the little missy's bed. The first year they were all sold out. I thought I would be a tricky trickster and get them on sale. So much for being tricky. The second year I pounced as soon as I saw that they were available again. This year, there are no snowpeople, but there are darling penguins!

Whenever I need an infusion of cozy, I dive into my daughter's bed and snuggle her sheets. At some point, I'm thinking this will stop being ok with her. Her sheets and her comforter...it's like being surrounded by a warm pink marshmallow.

Am I the only one on the planet who feels like PINK (everytime I say it, it's gonna be all caps) is a good winter, Christmas color? I'm returning some twinkle lights I got at the drugstore because there are no pink twinkle lights on them. The best twinkle lights have a few pinks thrown into the mix.

(Got some cute Hello Kitty candy to send as a Christmas present to a good friend's little girl)

The kiddo's been sporting lots o' pink lately. I really didn't intend for there to be a pink theme today, but sometimes PINK JUST HAPPENS. I am so excited to try this peppermint cakey mix and it comes in a pinkish box, which mean it has to be good right?

Christmas is not just a big countdown to Christmas day, in my mind. I mean, it IS, but the thing I really love about Christmas is that I feel like it begins on December 1 and it's just one big fiesta o' fun until New Year's. Christmas Day isn't even the best part for me. The best part is that week between Christmas and New Year's. The mad scramble has ended but everything is still lovely and Christmasy and there are TOYS and BOOKS and MOVIES and leftovers, and it's just a whole ball of wonderfulness.

Yes, here is my favorite winter mug again. Have I successfully convinced you of the mountain of awesome that is Cost Plus?

Has pink ever just spontaneously happened to you?

PINK CHRISTMAS!!! It's happening.

  2. I love the pinkness. I'm actually enjoying some pink this winter, too, and it isn't usually my thing. Maybe because it is an unexpected winter color. I wish I had one more room in this house with room for a full-size tree. I want a big all-white tree (like the one over at Smile and Wave - http://smileandwave.typepad.com/blog/2012/12/my-entry.html ) to hang big, bright ornaments on. I'd call it our party tree.

Those sheets look so amazingly comfy. Maybe I should invest in some flannel sheets this year. Of course, it might be good for the high temperatures to plummet below 60 degrees first. (It was well into the 70s the other day! In December!)

    2. Omigoodness, I can't wait to see pictures! I did buy a tiny $2 white tree mini tree from Family Dollar to tide me over, but isn't the same.

Last year, we had a pathetically warm winter. Other years, we've had temps so cold that snow couldn't happen. And we've had blizzardy years, too. It's typical Kansas, all over the place. I want snow! I want cold! I want winter!

  3. I love all the pink! You can never have too much pink. My daughter's room is totally pink and it's the happiest room in our house. I love it!! And the chocolate peppermint loaf from Trader Joe's looks delicious. I almost bough that when I was there on Saturday, but bought the gingerbread cookies and the chocolate shortbread cookies instead and they are yummy!

  4. Oh pink. Yes, it happens frequently! I'm more of a red girl, but My little miss lOVES pink--- and really, red is just grown up pink, right?
I actually love pink and red together. And a pale, icey pink looks beautiful with Christmas decor. I noticed at my craft show that a lot of my display pieces ARE pink, so I'm gonna use it more in my painting! Hehehe!
    And those sheets....look sooo comfy!
