My husband is laughing laughing at how there are NO DEPTHS of bad pun-creation to which I will not stoop. Tech and blech, so awesome! They're even spelled the same way!
Ok so many things today. I have the most darling gingerbread story book to show you but the photos are on my computer that WON'T TURN ON. (everything is saved on Carbonite but I don't feel like loading them all onto my lap top right now but I'm gonna have to soon) Anyway, Andrew is getting some computer gizmo that might or might not fix the computer, so long story short, that other gingerbread book will coming SOON but not today.
It's super cute though. So mad that I can't have it today for Gingerbread Week. (#I am aware this is not really a problem of any significance)
Today instead, I have a picture of my messy dining table. We no longer dine at it. It looks like this pretty much all of the time now. This mess is representative of my mood today. We eat in the kitchen at our Ikea Docksta table, which I was warned not to get but we got it anyway. I have a post about Docksta coming soon too. It took me FOUR YEARS to decide whether or not to buy that table.
Also, tomorrow there will be no Cool Stuff post because Something Else is Happening.
xoxoxoxo! Are the rest of you having a great day? Can you believe all that 'Downton Abbey' stuff this week? NOT COOL. (those of you who saw, you know. Edith.)
Our table is like that too. We eat at it too and just push all the stuff to one end. I used to wipe and tidy but pushing works just as well. That custard I mentioned is Birds. I'd say you'd get it at your emporium. The tin will look nice in your kitchen too, very fifties and kitschy. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteOh YES Lucy! I've seen Birds custard there! I've always been curious to try, but intimidated. Now that it has your endorsement, I'll try it!
DeleteYour dining table is less crowded than mine! We eat at another table as well! Hahaha! I thought I was the only one with that problem! Let's hope the gizmo will fix the computer! My hubby bought one to fix my iMac as well but it is still not turning on :( so I have been using the laptop ever since (that was 7 months ago).
ReplyDeleteI was sad that the dining table would end up unused if we began eating in the kitchen all the time, but it really gets more use than ever because its become the Everything Table :)
DeleteOur table looks worse, and it's the only one we have. We've been eating on 1960s TV trays instead. (Not with the TV on, just at the trays...)
ReplyDeletePoor, poor Edith. Very curious about tomorrow. And sometimes, computers just suck.
Andrew and I ate at TV trays every day of our lives before Julia came along. My mom and I used to eat on trays a lot and I loved it. I'm a BIG BIG fan of TV trays!
DeleteOur table is always covered in crafts too! But much more messy! Seriously, Keira's crafts are taking over the house! I have to sneak stuff into the recycling! Oh and THANK YOU for posting the link to MFAMB Downton recaps - I have been reading them with glee. :) Oh and I do love the title of this blog post. :)
ReplyDeleteWhy Jenny doesn't have her own show on HBO is beyond me. She's the funniest lady I've ever come across but she would need to be on HBO :) She's AMAZING! (and have you see her art?? My goal is to have a Jenny original.)
DeleteI can't wait to read tomorrow's post!
ReplyDeleteAs to Gingerbread Week... do you think someone out there has ever made a frosted gingerbread cake... you know, birthday style? Wouldn't that be super yummy?
Oh it's not THAT exciting...unless funny faces from me is exciting, tee hee :)
DeleteYES YES to frosted gingerbread! Nigella does that!
I think your mess looks absolutely lovely compared to my mess... which covers far more than my dining room table. poor poor Edith. Good luck with your computer woes, good thing you have a tech savvy husband!
ReplyDeleteArt stuff always makes for goodlooking mess! There are various piles of mess all over here as well -- I've haven't folded the laundry for about 3 loads worth. Now I'm afraid of it.
DeleteMy blog would have had to shut down probably, it if weren't for my tech savvy husband -- I never could have survived the stress of managing the tech if not for him!
DeleteAwesome rug and table!
ReplyDeletethank you so so much! The rug we found at some local rug selling store, and the table came from Room & Board and we ordered it sight unseen, if you can believe. Glad it worked out. Most every other piece of furniture we have is a hand me down from relatives, but the table we went for on our own :)
DeleteWe got the boys one of those unfinished little tables/chairs from IKEA years ago and 90% of the time that's where they eat because the main table is a mess. And a picture of my messy table wouldn't be nearly as cute as yours.
ReplyDeletePoor Edith. Richard Armitage should come and save her.
And just for randoms since it's gingerbread week, my aunt made the most darling gingerbread boys for my boys a couple of Christmases ago ... http://www.prettylittlenest.com/2010/12/run-run-as-fast-as-you-can.html
RICHARD ARMITAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deletethat's all I can think of to say after I saw his name written in your comment. :)
Hi Melissa! I like the picture of your dinner table taken from above. You say it's messy, but to me it looks like... a natural and alive home.
ReplyDeleteLaura.
Thanks Laura!! I've learned to embrace mess as evidence of a loved household :)
DeleteI love a messy dinner table--that one looks especially inviting and fun with all the supplies on it. Good luck on getting your computer fixed.
ReplyDeletegah, this day comes for all of us sooner or later I guess -- the dreaded day when the computer just says I'M DONE.
DeleteBoo about the computer. I hope everything turns out all right.
ReplyDeleteWould you believe we actually have two dining room tables? We eat at one and the other one is covered in all the dishes we don't have room for in our cabinets. I am a compulsive dish buyer. I have three china patterns so sometimes things get out of hand...
I want to see your china!!!! Do a post on it!
DeleteI am extremely worried about my home now that I have seen the standard for "messy".
ReplyDeletehaha the table makes any mess look good. I didn't take pix of the garbage bags full of old stuff that have been sitting in my hallway for wks on end :)
DeleteHi Melissa, I've just found your blog and I. LOVE. IT. I've been quietly obsessing through old posts all evening, and now I'm sitting down to watch this week's Downton Abbey. Have you seen this? http://edithwithgooglyeyes.tumblr.com/ I lose it every time. Much aloha from the Big Island and mahalo for this awesome blog! ~Amelie
ReplyDeleteAmelie!!!! Ohmygoodness! We have so much to discuss! How's Hawaii treating you?? Saw your awesome blog! Will be coming over again to leave a proper comment! Had NOT seen that link, THANK YOU!
Deleteyay yay yay! Let the book and Hawaii bonding begin!!
mahalo nui loa to you :)
Oh blogger love! We love Hawaii- it's been a great place to raise children as you know from the other side. We're going to Maui next month to visit my inlaws, I can't wait to check out the toy store in Makawao that you recommended, and the lavender farm! (I just totally proved what a Julias-Bookbag-geek I've become...) Thanks so much for checking out my blog too! *swoon*
DeleteAAAAAH! you're going to LOVE that book shop. LOVE! and the lavender farm too! I can't wait to chat more with you and find out all about how you came to be in Hawaii etc...:)
