I am unable to part from my stick tree.
It is a part of me now. Like chocolate. Like my family. (notice how I wrote chocolate first? full of the jokes, I am.)
So…here we are! I’m pretending like everything is casual and not weird and that I don’t have an unhealthy attachment to my stick tree. Hey, at least now I’m placing it up on my mantel so the risk of eye poking has been minimized. Now I just have to worry about earthquakes and having it fall on someone’s foot or head.
Prepare yourself, because we are now going to take a peek at my Happy Chinese New Year Stick Tree from every conceivable angle. EVERY ANGLE.

Are we FREAKING OUT about HOW COOL my Hello Kitty lucky money envelopes are?

You can find some just as cute ones here.

And then…I had a vision of them fluttering, full of red and pink and gold Happy Chinese New Year glory…and I knew that the reason they had come into my world was to adorn my stick tree and breathe new life into it.

P.S. right now I have the Chinese New Yr stick tree, some Valentine's Day decor, and my lights-in-a-jar AND my Ikea star lights still up. My house is beginning to resemble a carnival gone terribly awry.
Lovely Stick Tree!!! I go gaga for the Hello Kitty red envelops too! Gotta show you some of the cards I got this year (in a future post... if I manage to not collapse in bed every night!)
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see!!! keep me posted about that! :)
DeleteLOVE THIS!!!!!! Those are too freaking cool! I love My Melody, too, but I'd never seen Cinnamoroll! I'm behind on my Sanrio love these days. Carnival decor is awesome. We have done NOTHING to keep decorations going post-Christmas. I haven't had time or energy. It makes me sad. I'm going to enjoy yours instead.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I'm gonna have to do a whole post on Cinnamoroll -- she is flipping OBSESSED!!
DeleteAND the stick tree returns!!! Hooray! Hooray! I'm glad... it belongs. :) AND this stick tree is really really really wonderful! Hello Kitty, rich beautiful colors, Happy Chinese New Year. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you Robyn!!!!! I'm so glad you like. I really wasn't planning on doing another stick tree. I was going to make the envelopes into a garland. But the tree called to me.....
DeleteNothing wrong with a carnival atmosphere! :) I have seriously contemplated doing a vintage carnival/ circus themed kitchen. I LOVE Hello Kitty and My Melody. I didn't recognize Cinnamoroll, but it is super cute!! I just need an extra house to myself for all of my quirky decor ideas ;) Love this post!
ReplyDeleteyour comment is making me think --- i think what we really need are our own playhouses :) FUN, RIGHT??
DeleteFabulous! I have a thing for sticks too.
ReplyDeleteAnd those are adorable btw. Where did you find that awesome paper?
I found it at the Hello Kitty store in a mall in Hawaii! I couldn't find these exact ones online but I did find some other darling ones on Amazon, there's a link up above in the post :)
DeleteIt was meant to be! Love this happy little stick tree. I hope we see more of it!
ReplyDeletedon't tell the tree, but I'm actually using different sticks than the ones I was using all last yr. epic details, no? i think this year for springtime, I'm gonna go down the traditional easter-egg tree road....
DeleteI try not to give in, but anything Hello Kitty just gets me. We were at Michael's yesterday and there was a Hello Kitty display (with library-style Hello Kitty date stamps). Paul practically had to drag me away.
ReplyDeleteWhen there was a Sanrio store in Oklahoma CIty, I used to get stuff featuring some little gerbil/guinea pig thing. Doesn't look like they make it anymore! :-(
I kid you not, my heart just goes a mile a minute when I enter any Sanrio store. I almost bought a stack of notebooks for myself while I was there but I was feeling frugal. That was misguided of me, I shoulda gone for the notebooks!
DeleteWe love Hello Kitty too, I didn't know My Melody or Cinnamoroll, at first I thought My Melody actually was Hello Kitty, then I saw she's a bunny! Love your tree!
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard keeping all these Sanrio characters straight -- did you know Hello Kitty has a twin sister named Mimi? yessiree!
DeleteHow cute! It looks so beautiful (from EVERY angle ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura!!!! It's been JOLLY GOOD fun :)
DeleteMust. Have. This. Simply fantastic!
ReplyDeletethis was my easiest stick tree! punched holes in the envelopes and stuck 'em on :)
DeleteThe stick tree is very festive. Even though I am not a TOTAL Hello Kitty person, I found myself coveting Julia's Hello Kitty alarm clock when I was over the other day:) xo
ReplyDeletedid you know that the posts LIGHT UP?? i'd arm you wrestle you for it, but you'd prolly win!! :)
