Valentine's Day was a Happy Day

Tired of Valentine's Day? WELL HERE'S SOME MORE!

We had a great time on Chocolate Day, aka Valentine's Day! I think Julia loves Valentine's Day almost as much as her birthday and Christmas. Actually, maybe she likes it so much because her birthday comes right on the heels of it. So it's like several days worth of treats and celebrating. Or as Andrew would say, many days of ridiculous over-indulgence.

I started putting daily little valentines on her bedroom door on Feb 1, an idea I got from Ness, the queen of clever ideas. And then I found a mini (like 4 inches, it's hard to tell the scale from the photo) mug and mini tin of hot chocolate because EVERYTHING IS CUTER WHEN IT'S MINI. True story.

On the day itself, we had some Very Attractive looking red velvet pancakes, which I got from Cost Plus. I get them every year. Sometimes the mix comes with chocolate chips, this year it didn't so I added my own. I felt really sick after I ate them.

And lastly, please admire my DIY wrapping that I put around the mug and cocoa. If you believe nothing else that comes out of my mouth (and believe me, I would believe very little of what I say), trust me on the fact that washi tape is your friend.

(P.S. here's what we did last year on Valentine's Day. because I thought you might like to know.)

    1. The stuff I used I found at a local bookstore. I love it!!!! The mug came from Crate & Barrel, as did the cocoa :)

  4. I totally copied your mug and cocoa idea (alas, it was so much cheaper than three new books). Except I went GIANT instead of mini! I found polka dot mugs the size of soup bowls and filled them with packs of instant cocoa, candy cane hearts (I just taped two mini candy canes together), and bags of marshmallows. Thanks for the inspiration. :)

    1. those pancakes were really good Michaele!! But I actually prefer the funfetti ones I made for Julia's birthday. I'll share later in the week. Julia feels the opposite ~ she preferred the red velvet to the funfetti :)

  8. Sorry the pancakes made you ill! I was going to comment on what I cool idea they were. Not if you don't feel well afterward, huh? OMG need pink hot chocolate. I have a feeling that pink hot chocolate would make anything better.

  10. The notes on the door are fantastic! And yes tiny things are way more fun!!! We were going to have crepes on Valentines day, but it takes forever to make enough for all of us (since we all pig out tremendously) that I decided dutch babies in the muffin pan would be faster and to be fancy and special I made some chocolate ones too---which NO ONE except me would eat!! Sadly I am no longer near a Cost Plus or I think those pancakes could have been a winner around here!!
