And she insisted that there be 'texture' and 'shadowing' because she learned about that in art class.
I got the black canvas (on sale yo! at the craft store!) and cut out the little cherry blossoms from some Japanese wrapping paper we had.
Isn't that all existential 'n stuff? I cut cherry blossom shapes from cherry blossom paper! And then Julia created her cherry blossom tree.
'Cuz it's cherry blossom time.
What? Don't recall? I don't recall things from random blog posts either, even when it's in my own blog, which is why I repeat myself 90% of the time.
Here's how this objet d'art was created:
You paint stuff and then you glue stuff. END OF TUTORIAL.
It's so great I don't know where to hang it! Happy Cherry Blossom time!
love it! Black canvas is a great idea.(although of course it would be nothing without such a talented artist!)
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see that our craft store was having a sale on canvases! I knew that the black would make the pink cherry blossoms really pop :)
DeleteShe did such an amazing job! Love the black canvas.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa! We have it now hanging in her room. She wanted to "see it everyday" :)
DeleteI love it! I could totally see that pretty paper as a fabric... wouldn't it make for a lovely little girl skirt? xoxo
ReplyDeleteOH YES!!! I would wear it as a shirt, a dress, a skirt.....
DeleteOk that was beyond gorgeous. A very talented child you have. Good call on the black canvas. She has an artistic eye!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cherie!!! I think it came out great. Not that I'm biased or anything. ;)
DeleteShe totally nailed it! I do that with my kids all the time... try making suggestions about their artwork or projects only to have them tell me that they know what they are doing. AND THEN sure enough, in the end what they did it way better than anything I could have ever envisioned.
ReplyDeleteto have more trust, that's what i need.
I'm right there with you, babe. Waaaaaay lucking in the trust dept. It's a bit embarrassing getting so many life lessons from one's kid, but I guess that's a good thing....:)
DeleteAmazing! Quite the artist you have there.
ReplyDeleteThanks Juju!!! It was a fun little activity :)
DeleteI LOVE this collaborative art project!!! How beautiful! Where will you hang it?
ReplyDeleteIt's in her room!!
DeleteThat's lovely- your daughter is quite an artist! I love your contributions as well- that sounds like something I would actually be capable of. Julia's owl shirt is adorable- where did you get it?
ReplyDeleteWe're all about easy art projects around here Jenny :) ~ her shirt is from Mini Boden! We've had great luck with their clothes, non flimsy, soft, holds up really well. :)
Deleteoh, I love this!!! A black canvas--I've never seen one, but I love it and I love the cherry blossom art, so much!! She did such a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteyou know, I saw those black canvases at the craft store and thought, wowza. i don't know what we're gonna do to this, but we're gonna do SOMETHING. i knew whatever she made, or painted on it would really pop against that black!
DeleteThis is stunning. She is quite the little artist....
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much!! She's way more artsy than I was at her age. I wish I could draw half as well as she can. My great lament in life is my lack of drawing ability. If I could wish for one talent, it would be the ability to draw well...:)
DeleteThis is fantastic! You both are an artistic machine! I love it!
ReplyDeleteKid art is the best art! (And yours too!!) :)
