Cool Stuff I Like

Happy Friday to all! Have any of you ever had chrysanthemum tea or chrysanthemum soda? It's super delicious! Very light tasting, with just a hint of floral. Supposedly, chrysanthemum tea is very beneficial for your eyes. ?? Oh. Just thought of something. I'd love to do a tea poll. Because I like to know about tea. If you feel like sharing in the comments, let me know what type of tea you're loving right now and which brand! I'm always always on the hunt for something new and great. I'll start. Have you ever had Lady Grey tea from Twinings? It's like Earl Grey, only with a hint more citrus. I love it!

COOL STUFF for this week:

Carrot Cake Cupcakes with Honey Cream Cheese Frosting.

'The Bachelor' meets 'Cinderella' meets 'The Hunger Games'?? OH YEAH.

These little cakes look wonderful.

Neon Gummy Bear soaps.

Simply amazing. This photographer captured an erupting volcano and aurora borealis in the same shot.

5 Sanity-Saving Apps for Parents.

Mother's Day projects for kids.

Super adorable mermaid crown craft.

So easy! So cute! DIY bud vases and votives.

Independent and resilient kids.

Cool Book of the Week: 'The Dragons of Wayward Crescent: Gruffen' by Chris d'Lacey. I got a whole pile o' new books for the kiddo last weekend, and I was going to show you all of them and realized UM, THAT'S AT LEAST 5 BLOG POSTS WORTH OF BOOKS, duh, I can't show them all at once! But this easy-ish chapter book (good for grades 1-4) about dragons was the one Julia reached for first and had it read in one evening and one morning. It's about a little girl whose mom creates a guard dragon to protect her from monsters-under-the-bed. My daughter LOOOOOVED it. And wants the other books in the series! This girl loves her dragons. (Chris d'Lacey has written a ton of dragon books! Apparently his other series, 'Last Dragon Chronicles', is great for slightly older kids, ages 8+.)

Have a lovely first week in May weekend! Has 'Ironman 3' come out yet? I can't wait to see it!

  2. Jasmine tea is my favorite! It's just the perfect drink either hot or cold :D

Yay to more dragon books! My kiddo loves them too. He cried when he found out he was not born on the year of the dragon (that was when he was 4 years old) but he took it calmy when he learned that baby sister is indeed a dragon :P

Very good post about independent kids. I am so guilty of babying my children!

  3. These are cool things indeed! I'll have to track down that tea...sounds intriguing!
I think I'm more of a coffee person, so when I drink tea I make it coffee-like, lol!
My favorite is Twinings french vanilla chai with some honey and coffee creamer. Yup. Try it! It's good! It's like a lighter coffee, and no caffeine!

  4. Morning, Melissa! It's already 90+ degrees here (much to my great dismay), so there will be no hot tea for a good long while at my house. BUT, I do love a good glass of iced tea, so we often brew up a bunch of Tazo's Awake tea. It's a black tea, and the same stuff you can get at Starbucks. Yummy!

  5. Love the iron-on kids' art tote bag idea at MSL. That's such a cool idea! Easy cool votive holders. That photography is awesome. Love the article at The Mother Huddle. The gummy bear soaps are hilarious! (Wouldn't those make a fine April Fools joke? Well, not for the recipient...) Okay, after reading the Kiera Cass interview, I want to read The Selection, too. And LOVE dragon books. ;) Happy Weekend!
