Colorful Things

I'm a total color lover, but lately, I've been drawn to images of really calm, neutral monotones when I do my home decor gazing on Pinterest. But that's just a funny dream, because I need color, I think it's built into my DNA. Or maybe it comes from where one was raised. I've noticed that people in Hawaii are much less afraid of color in general, in their clothes, decor etc, than folks in the Pacific Northwest. I've never ever understood why people who live in such a grey place insist on mimicking the weather via their clothes and homes here, it's really wild! It's like the grey nestled down into their SOUL.

Totally shocked that the year is half gone. I say this every year, but every year, time goes faster. Honestly, how much faster can it go? It was just Christmas! It really was! In two months time, everyone will be starting to think about fall. I'm telling you, time has passed more quickly this year than any other year that I can recall. Pretty sure I've mentioned before that I'm terrified that I will go to sleep tonight, wake up tomorrow, and my daughter will be 17.

I think that's why I blog. To prove to myself that my life really happened. And if I lived in a time before tech, I guess I would have been scribbling in a journal. Thanks for coming by friends, to read my scribbles.

  1. Your house is lovely and bursting with colors! I like the many different items you are showing like the Chinese painting and that chair!!! So bold and pretty. (and that wonton soup is making me drool)

I think the year went by really fast too. I am enjoying it but I am already excited about fall and Christmas (must have something to do with the super hot weather we have now).

    1. I have some posts I want to do, and I have to wait for fall, because they just aren't the right fit for summer! I waited too long to do them, and now I have to wait. Happens to me all the time. I have a post that's been waiting for me to finish it since last year!

  4. I'm not happy about it. It means school will be starting again soon, and I'm dreading it.

I need color, too. I tend to wear a lot of black, but I need color inside my house, at least. My poor little house just sits here, waiting. Someday we'll finish this decorating thing.

I love all your colorful pictures, though. What soup is that?

    1. that soup was a thrown together thing! we had a few frozen mini potstickers, and some chicken broth, and I cooked the dumplings, put it in the soup, added some soy sauce and hot chili sauce and threw on some salad greens. it was for me Andrew and I to have as lunch one day :)
