Cool Stuff I Like

Happy friday to you! Guess what. Oh I'll just tell you. I ate a salad the other day! And guess where the lettuce came from! My very own garden! I ate lettuce that I grew! It was thrilling, I tell you. Another momentous thing: I bought a Cadbury chocolate bar, the kind with fruit and almonds. The creamiest candy bar ever made. Not only did I buy it, but I ate it. I haven't had one of those in years. That is a very good candy bar and you should totally go find one, because guess what else ~ anyone who tells you that eating chocolate or going shopping will not really make one feel happy when feeling PMS-y or just a tad down IS TOTALLY LYING.

COOL STUFF I liked this week:

Yep. I will probably be tuning in to watch this show. Sorry Andrew!

My next recipe for Taco Tuesday!!

A good friend sent me the link to this very cool looking app for kids.

I am counting the minutes until this movie comes out. COUNTING THE MINUTES, I tell you! I'm telling you a lot of things this week, apparently.

Cinnamon roll pizza, two ways. One with homemade dough, one with readymade.

If you like, please wish my friend Danzel a Happy 1 year Blogoversary! She keeps me clued in on everything cool to read and what to watch on TV with my kiddo. I just adore her, and her blog.

Futurustic is a fun, new-to-me blog about all things I like: design, kids, interiors and vintage stuff...

Just bought this book!

Cool book of the Week: 'No Flying in the House' by Betty Brock. Oh this one looks like SO much fun! It was originally written in the 1930's. I wants it. And I want to read it with my kiddo, because I don't want to miss out on any of the excitement about reading of a little girl who discovers that SHE IS HALF FAIRY and can fly. I'm waiting for someone to tell me that I'm half fairy. I'd be like, "I TOTALLY KNEW IT!" Several people (including an 8 year old girl) said this was one of their "favorite children's books ever", which is good enough for me. Supposed to be wonderful for kids ages 6 and up.

Have a lovely weekend! We're going to attempt to get our grill in working order.

~Melissa

  2. Oh. My. Goodness. CINNAMON PIZZA! I don't make cinnamon rolls because they take way too much time and effort, but cinnamon pizza is do-able. I will definitely have to make it for my crew. And that playhouse! I want to move in!! Maybe someday I can have a grown-up house just like that. *sigh*

Have a fun weekend! Today is the last day of school around here. Woot!

  7. What a cool book you just bought! Those tacos do look delightful... we've been eating tacos all the time here. Because they are easy and easy is all I have the patience for in the kitchen right now. :) Also- can't wait till August when I have summer squash in the garden (hard to believe they will be producing when I look at my wee little plants right now) ... cause we'll be eating that every meal. Trapper and I both adore summer squash!

    have a fantastic weekend!

(the movie I can't wait to see... the Wolverine... oh how I love Hugh Jackman)

    1. Hugh Jackman is The Man. LOOOOOOOVE him! My celebrity gossip site people that I read all the time, they love him too, and usually they hate on everybody. Except Hugh, they adore him, and his kindness, and his work ethic :)

    2. Also, he's super hot... I don't usually go gaga over many actors, but I do over him. Oh how I love to watch him on the big screen. :)

  8. No Flying in the House is every bit as awesome as you've been told. Talking cats, magical little figurines, you name it, it's in there in all it's glory. Betty Brock also wrote The Shades, which is another fabulous fantasy book about a magical garden filled with the shadows of everyone who ever visited there, a mysterious dolphin fountain and a classic struggle of good vs evil. I wish she had written more stuff, what I have read by her is pure kid lit gold.
