Cool Stuff I Like

WHAZZUP? Yeah it's that kind of day. Hey! One week of summer vacation down, only....what, something like 11 more weeks to go! WHAT? Who made up that rule? Why is summer vacation that long? I'm already sensing...boredom in the kidlet. I want to tell her, um HELLO there tiny missy. This is summer speaking. You are going to be bored. This is why books were invented. Aren't there like, a lot of kid movies coming out this summer? We're going to go see every single one. Bam, that's an afternoon's worth of activity right there, with each movie. I think I need to start reading up on a lot of kid craft and activity blogs....

COOL STUFF I like this week (it's pretty much all food):

Books for Breakfast.

Speaking of breakfast: dairy-free, gluten-free breakfast ideas from the Goopster. (oh I had chia seed pudding recently and it's AMAZING.)

Lots of summer popsicles!

I love every single one of these types of dresses. Andrew laughed at me for wanting to wear nightgowns all the time.

Could this yellow cake be the holy grail of cakes that I've been looking for?

And an almond cake for my sweet, sweet Nigella.

DIY washer necklaces.

Helen Dardik creates the most happy, fun art ever!

Summer rock toss. It's the simple things.

Food on a stick recipes!

Music and Kids. Written by my dear friend Aadip Desai.

Cool Book of the Week: 'Pirate vs. Pirate' by Mary Quattlebaum and Alexandra Boiger is SO. MUCH. FUN! Just saw it in a store last week and flipped for it. Two pirates, Bad Bart (male), and Mean Mo (female). Each one strives to prove that he/she is the BADDEST PIRATE of them all. Their contest of wills include attempting to figure out who has the most pirate plunder. Who is the fiercest. Who is strong enough to throw a cannonball. At the end of all this fighting, they decide....that they are the perfect love match for the other! Oh, and the pirates speak in the most pirateteering language imaginable, my scurvy sea dogs. I can't believe I just called you nice people scurvy sea dogs. There's enough text and hilarity in this tale to amuse 1st and 2nd graders (and you can explain the word 'maritime'), as well as being pleasing to 5 year olds who loves their pirates.

Have a lovely weekend! I'm sensing a family room camping night in our future....

  2. I love those dresses! They look so comfy!!! But I don't think I have the figure to wear them :/ (read: I will look shorter and fatter LOL).

You find amazing Artists on Etsy! I like the bold color and fun design. It's sure to brighten up a room.

I need to find some things for my boy to do to this summer! Gotta find something more interesting than video games (that's a tough one)! But there will be great movies!!! Monster Inc 2 is coming out today! And Despicable Me 2 will come out July 3rd :D

I plan on doing some activities based on those movies (coloring, drawing, crafting).

If you find a good activity, please share!!!

    Have a great weekend :)

  3. I've been eyeing the Books For Breakfast store. I subscribed to her blog, but she hasn't posted in a while. I LOVE Helen Dardik's art, and I will buy some at some point. Those dresses are cute... on those girls. (i.e. Not on a bigger woman with cartoon-character curves, like me.) I've been wanting to try chia pudding. Popsicles and my sensitive teeth don't really get along, but the girls are all about them. Cool article by your friend. That book looks fantastic!

    Happy First Day of Summer!!!

    1. Her online shop is FANTASTIC!!!!!!

I tried chia pudding not knowing it was chia pudding (I thought it was regular banana pudding, that's how it was listed on a menu) and WHOA NELLY it was sooooo great! So I'm sold now, and I want to try my own version.

Happy First Day of Summer to you!!
