Cool Stuff I Like

Happy Friday, friends! It's officially summer at our house. My kiddo's been reading, asking to make popsicles, swimming, and running around with a wolf pack size of neighborhood kids until 8 o' clock at night. And then asking to stay out just five more minutes, even as the other moms are dragging their kids home as well. There have been sleepovers, a few meltdowns, and Pop-Tarts. (sometimes you just GOTTA. cherry if you must know. although I'm going to get myself a box of S'mores flavor before the summer is out!) The sky has been rainy. The sky has been thundery. The sky has been sunset-ty with a pink haze. I love this time of year, I love June. I don't want to think about the downward slope we're on, or about the fact that the days will get shorter and shorter until the end of the year. I will put that thought OUT of my mind and re-visit the notion maybe in September. It will be ok to think about it then.

COOL STUFF for you this week:

Little Passports.

Simple Summer Pastas.

Why everyone should see 'The Slipper and the Rose'. (I'm going to buy this movie, I adore it!)

I AM TOTALLY MAKING A SPAGHETTI SANDWICH.

My new obsession, thanks to my dear Jane Cherie, finder of the coolest toys.

Coffee Filter Place Settings. (so pretty!)

If you have tiny tots, you have to see this blog.

Lovely roundup of books!

Magical fairy photography.

This news pretty much makes my whole life happy.

Best of Summer Awards.

Cool Book of the Week: 'Letters from Camp' by Kate Klise is something I happened upon while again wasting too much time on Amazon. I loved the cover. Make a cool cover, author people, and I will come a-runnin to it. It's a mystery of sorts, and the story unfolds to the audience via a series of letters, post-its, legal briefs, menus and other assorted paper communications. The plot centers around Camp Harmony, which promises to take squabbling brothers & sisters and turn them into happy, loving siblings. But the camp owners are not what they seem, nor are they as harmonious as their name would lead one to believe.....this looks loads of fun for ages 8-12!

HAVE A LOVELY WEEKEND! Another sleepover. I am Not Cooking, so we're having hot dogs and corn. Still trying to get that grill going.

  1. Forget S'mores! You've got to try the new Frosted Chocolate Peanut Butter. Nom nom nom. I sound like a commercial but they tasty! If you can't find a box, I'll mail you one.

    1. Oh goodness gracious man alive! That sounds amazing! I haven't seen that one! Are you on the more Eastern half of the country? I was amazed to discover that about Chicago on to the East Coast, there are a whole different set of Sara Lee desserts that are not available on the West Coast. There is a Sara Lee banana cake that is just out of the WORLD and it is not available for the West Coasters! Sniff! I will look for the PB flavor and if it's not around, I will cheerfully take you up on your offer :)

  2. My kiddo has been doing the same! He is actually at his cousin's house for last night's sleepover. Oh how fun it is to be a kid sometimes!

Thanks for the mention! I can't wait to see your Russian doll!!!

The return of Twinkies? Yay!!! (my hubby will be happy to hear that)!

Letters from Camp seems like a super cool book! I am going to show it to my boy to see if he would like to read it (the boy just won't read anything by himself unless it has to do with Pokémon!).

    Have a great weekend!

  4. Sounds like a perfect summer.

    Amazing photography!

I was devastated when we first learned of the Twinkies demise. I couldn't be happier about their impending return. I kept the faith and I'm so glad it paid off.

  5. I am digging the Pullip love lately, too. Little Passports is awesome. Like Kiwi Crate and all the other box subscriptions, I'll enjoy the posts and pictures, but will probably never subscribe. I've never seen The Slipper and the Rose. Is that the one with Leslie Caron? I love GINGERLILLY. Her photography is spectacular. I follow her blog just to sigh. English summertime seems so much more inviting than disgusting, sweaty Kansas summertime. Summery pastas with lots of veggies sound delicious right now. (The A Beautiful Mess mac and cheese is in the over right now - again - although I do plan on making a salad, too.) Avery and Augustine looks awesome. I'm trying to subscribe via Bloglovin, but it isn't recognizing a feed. :o( I can totally live without Twinkies, but I'm happy for the rest of you. ;o) Love the book roundup! Letters from Camp looks darling. By the way, we read Chickerella last night and were DYING. FABULOUS. Happy Weekend!!!!

    1. I'll eat you share of Twinkies for you!! :) SO glad you enjoyed Chickerella. I love that crazy book!! Nope, that CInderella version is not the one with Leslie Caron, but I really like that one too. This is one has Richard Chamberlain as the Prince and Gemma Craven as Cinderella. Does anyone feel the need to have have a reviewing of the Thorn Birds??? I just totally outed myself agewise :)

So with you on English summertime. Wow, those photos, they just knocked me out!
