(I have an entire bookcase full of cookbooks in another room. I read my cookbooks like novels. And I re-read them over and over. Haven’t made even 1/16 of what’s in them but I love each and every one of them.)
Can you make out the Banana Malt drink? You can right? I am so lame for not typing these out for you, but it’s not that kind of day. I haven’t tried that one yet, but doesn’t it sound so delightful?
Believe me when I say all of the recipes ARE delightful and are things you would actually want to make, even if you’re not sailing off to a picnic. They’re just cute little homey recipes you’d want to make just because they’re awesome, and you want to make something cozy and warm and fun.
If I were forced to sell all but ten cookbooks, these would take up 2 spots on the list. Well, I’d consider them more as one book because they’re mini sized. So I’d give them 1 spot in my Top 10. If I had to pick between them, I’d choose the ‘Picnic’ book. (And now I think I will soon have to write a ‘Melissa’s Top 10 Cookbook list’…)
I didn't know there were Winnie the Pooh cookbooks! My daughter's blankets/bags/everything theme is Winnie the Pooh :)
ReplyDeleteI am now very tempted to get those recipe books!
Please do write your Top 10 Cookbook list! I would love to see what you prefer! I only have a few cookbooks but mostly for baby/children's food.
I promise, sometime I will definitely write a post like that! It's just a matter of time anyway, before this blog turns into all food, all cookbooks, tee hee :)
DeleteI'm still digesting you summer reading list (see what I did there? ha, ha, I crack myself up) so would love to see a top 10 cookbook list.
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! That's a joke I would have made!
DeleteYes, you must write a Top 10 Cookbook list!!
ReplyDeleteI love that there are Winnie the Pooh cookbooks. My kids would love that!
It's a plan! Spoiler alert: I like the British food writers. :)
DeleteThere's a choc chip cookie recipe in the picnic book which uses M & M's that I'm going to be making for Julia's school this week!
DeleteThese look awesome!! Thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteThey are SO cute! And the recipes are GOOD, and really fun for kids to make and eat.
DeleteOMG how cute. I want it.
ReplyDeletethey are the darlingest! there's even a picnic plan for rainy day indoor picnics. SO CUTE!
DeleteThese are so sweet! I need to get more cookbooks for the girls. I've had to thin out my own cookbooks a lot over the years. There were some, I admit, I liked to look at but had never actually cooked from.
ReplyDeletesigh. every few years I have to do this as well. it's always a sad day, but a necessary one. :)
DeleteNow see, I am terrified of cookbooks, but winnie the pooh makes it a tiny bit less terrifying. I think I just need to have a friend like you that I can sit in her kitchen and watch her use a cookbook and see that it isn't so scary after all. :) Too bad I live too far from you!
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you a wee secret, sweet Vanessa: I'm really not a very confident cook. And I would rather go poof into thin air rather make up my own recipe or be creative with a cooking technique. That's why I like baking! Rules. Measuring. Easy to follow. I like it so much better than any other kind of cooking!
DeleteAlthough just the other day I made a recipe (Parkin, which is basically gingerbread-only-not-as-good, it's more dense and chewy than regular gingerbread cake, and why was I even making something gingerbready in the summer????), and I had to toss most of it out, b/c everyone refused to eat it after the first day :)
I would happily send you a care package of treats, but I think they would be stale or soggy by the time they got there :)
I want orange milk.
