Happy 4th!

To my American friends, Happy Fourth of July! Or as my kiddo wrote on her drawing up above, "4 of July." And hey, happy 4th to everyone, American or no, because I wish happiness for people no matter what day it is.

What are you up to today? I'm making a cherry pie and Hawaiian BBQ shortribs. Last year I sat on my sofa and read a book and looked out the window, while Andrew and Julia set off fireworks with the other dads and neighborhood kids. It was glorious. I got to sit and do nothing....while my kiddo was awake! Have you noticed that dads and dudes just LOVE the 4th of July? My husband just LOVES the 4th! If you aren't too full up with pie, come back and visit us tomorrow, I'll have my Friday List up and running....

  2. Happy 4th from Dublin. Love anything that means I can do nothing while my kids are awake. Rarely happens but so fantastic when it does.

    1. Thank you dear Lucy!! I'm telling you, that feeling is rather akin to winning the lottery (not that I'd know) on a smaller level. It's the best! (says the lady with the one kid whom she loves with all of her heart and yet is so worn out by said kid....:)

    1. I think there is a Panda firework and one called Dancing Butterflies, which Julia picked out on her own. I'm not sure why we bother with anything, all the kids seem to want to do is throw Pop Its on the ground! :)
