I could talk hours and hours about hair. And I could talk about Winona for a very long time as well. Will we EVER find out what went down between her and Gwynnie? I don't believe it was over the 'Shakepeare in Love' script, that's supposedly an urban legend. But then again, if I had a BFF who stole a part from me, well that's a total friendship ender, isn't it? I've ended friendships for FAR less.
Daughter on a swing - weddings - Andie MacDowell - hair - perms - Winona-Gwyneth - fights with friends. And that, my friends, was some fine free association.
It's been quiet-ish around here. We've been hanging out at home mostly, and Julia has been on an endless run of playing with friends and swim lessons. She has certain outfits that are her favorites and the other day she tried to pull a shirt out of the hamper to wear again. I told her that the clothes were in the hamper for a reason. Andrew told her that pulling clothes out of the hamper was rather akin to pulling out food from the garbage bin, whereupon she began yelling, "YOU THINK I'M A DIRTY SCOUNDREL?!!!"
It was wrong of me, but I snort-laughed very hard. Which of course made her even angrier. (and if she finds out I put this on the blog I'm doomed. I can't help myself, such hilarity needs to be shared.)
So tell me, what have you been doing with yourselves? If you can free associate your answer, you get 2 points and my undying respect.
Hello Melissa!
ReplyDeleteI think we should cut back on food and electriciy costs as it seems as though our summer day-to-day activities are virtually identical; swimming lessons, hanging around at home OUTSIDE, of course, and seeing friends. So let's form a hippy commune and do it all together :-)
I think I've got a crush on Julia's summer dress, by the way.
Stephanie
Is this commune in France?? I AM SO THERE!!!! Sign me up!!!! (it's actually on my life bucket list to visit France again and come see you. Just letting you know.)
DeleteJ's little dress is actually a tunic from a kid clothing company called Naartje (pronunciation: impossible). It is light as a feather! So great for summer. She's wearing little shorts underneath :)
I saw Winona in a chemist in San Francisco, a place I moved to from Boston where I worked in the Globe Corner Bookstore where I read San Fran was a great place to live in a Places Rated book. So I tell my kids I am the person in the Corner Bookstore shop window in Make Way For Ducklings because that is really where I stood in the shop! And I LOVE that book but not so much the places rated book. I was lonely in San Fran and left after a few weeks. The are so many homeless people there. I thought it was kind of a sad place. Is that free association?
ReplyDeleteThat was WONDERFUL!!!! Love it!!!!
DeleteYou SAW Winona!? Cool! I would love to have had that celebrity sighting. Here's my Celeb Sighting: I saw David Duchovny (of the X-Files) on Maui once. My brother and I marched up and said hello and wished him Merry Christmas (it was the holidays) and told him how much we liked the show. He was very nice! Pretty much made my life. This was back in the early 90's when the show was at its most popular.
p.s. no offence to anyone living in San Francisco. Its a beautiful place and my opinion is probably more to do with the fact that I was sleeping on a borrowed airbed that deflated by 2am every night!
ReplyDeletedeflated airbeds do not sound very cheery :)
DeleteSounds delightful. I loooove weddings.
ReplyDeleteJulia pretty much was on cloud 9 the whole day, she got to be a flower girl!
DeleteI was in a parade today up and down my street with two four-year-olds carrying kazoos and castanets. It was cooler outside than inside because the A/C decided July was a good time to take a vacation. Now, I may not get to watch Broadchurch on BCC America because cable TV we can live without but no A/C in August would be living next door to Hell. Boy do I love me some David Tennant and Benedict Cumberbatch was just on Top Gear driving the reasonably priced car. You should get Andrew to watch Top Gear with you.
ReplyDeleteU R the AWESOMEST. You free associated Benedict Cumberbatch!!!
Deletetotally want to watch Top Gear.
I would also like to have some castanets.
I am a very boring lazy person today. I lost half my day, mainly the morning, due to a weather-related headache, because it was rainy until about noon. I am not used to rain these days. But it is cooler. I am supposed to be cleaning the bathroom, but instead I watched Saige Paints the Sky with the girls on DVD, because we need to return it to Redbox. Jane Seymour was in that, which made me wonder if Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman is streaming anywhere. I got online to check, but forgot to look, because I realized I should get my blog post finished. I started editing pictures for today's blog post, but I'm taking a break because Shockwave keeps crashing. Crashing... I'm hungry. I should make a very late lunch for myself, but then it would mess up my dinner. Hunger adds to headaches, so I should know better. So do messes. They add to headaches, too, which is why I probably shouldn't let the girls paint with watercolors and glitter just now, but they're doing it anyway. And they'll have to wash up, which will get glitter in the bathroom, which I'm supposed to be cleaning right now, but I'm not. Speaking of bathrooms and cleaning - oh wait, I mean cleansing - I checked out Gwynnie's latest cookbook. I think she's a little obsessed with what comes out the other end. Reminds me of Brittany Murphy's character in Girl, Interrupted. Which Winona was in. I didn't like that movie. I like Reality Bites, though, and I'm bummed it isn't on Netflix anymore. But I need to not watch TV anyway, since I can't even make myself clean the bathroom, finish a blog post, go to the DMV, or get up before noon. I suck today. But it is summer, right? And Mr. B is off work. So that's that.
ReplyDeletePure epic brilliance. I too am very obsessed with what comes out on the other end. Just FYI. I'm so tired today I'm letting J watch a movie even though that wasn't on the agenda, b/c apparently being over 40 means sleep quality starts to decline and I'm so tired and after taking a million wedding photos of my friend's wedding, I feel like I'm in a coma!
DeleteIs it fall yet? tee hee
I'm sooooooooo ready for fall!!!
DeleteWhat I wouldn't give to have a small enough face for a pixie hair cut. Or super short bangs. Or bangs at all.
