I feel like I have not photographed a book in weeks and weeks. Actually it's more than a feeling, it's a fact. I've been up to my eyeballs in wedding photos for a recent wedding shoot I did, taking pix as the second assisting photographer. And when I'm not fiddling with those or trying to find models for me to photograph for the portfolio of photographic work I'm creating, I've been taking Julia to Places Where There Is Water.

She didn't believe me that there are only 3 more weeks of vacation left.

So I apologize for the lack of book focus here lately, but we've been doing really important things like perusing the Halloween costume catalogs and playing with hairstyles and Hello Kitty hair clips.

I made Andrew have a total laughing fit the other day when he was downloading some software for me on my laptop, and I was like, "So what do I do when it's done, DO I PRESS A BUTTON?"

He was like, "Yeah, you can try pressing a button. Or all the buttons! Or maybe there should be one big button."

He very much wishes that he had started a Twitter account back in the days before it became popular for people to have Twitter accounts documenting what their fathers and/or pregnant wives say. He just about passed out the time I came downstairs and asked him to "go turn on the TV because I don't know how, while I go get my heat pack and some prunes."

My daughter has taken to walking around repeating that story, she thinks it's the funniest thing ever.

Melissa = 85 year old lady.

And in other news, did you take a gander at Julia's To Do list up above?? Now that's some sound advice, friends,  if ever I saw it.

  1. I am still waiting for you to get on Twitter Melissa. It would be too much fun to have you there ^_^ Julia's list is really good. I like to write EVERYTHING down in my planner as a reminder... It's amazing she is into TO DO List at her age! My boy has developed an allergy to pencil and paper for the summer and he won't touch those unless it's for drawing some of his sea monsters.

    1. ha ha! I will attempt to figure that out sometime. Twitter is really the perfect social media platform for me since I am just FULL of nonsensical meaningless one liners :)

      Sea monsters! Oooh fun!!

  2. Kills me that there is only three weeks left. Realized yesterday that I want to cram a whole lot more into this summer so off I go!!!!!!! (Love the Places With Water plan - perfect summer for it.)

    1. I've got ZERO complaints about the weather we've had this summer!!!!!

  3. We start school tomorrow. Not ready. Need to start figuring out blog posts, too, but we didn't get home until 12:30 last night, which was 1:30 DC time. Eek. School supply shopping today.

    Love the duck pictures!

    1. duckies are cuties :)

oh I remember that you guys start school so soon! ack! i know several folks whose kids just went back. happy supply shopping!

  4. OH! The beach. How I miss the beach. Being landlocked isn't always the best. I'm with you on the photographing books... I have a book post that's been begging to be made. It hasn't happened though. And summer is practically over! I can't stand it! And I still don't get Twitter. I'm an old lady too.

  5. I love all the pictures you've included lately.
    They're lovely.
    Such fun!

I LOVE love the list. SO cute.
Get fresh air? Smart cookie that girl of yours! :)

    Good luck with the portfolio.
Are you building it for professional reasons?
    Did you study photography?

    1. Yes! trying to find some actual paid work as a photog :) I didn't study photography in a school setting, I'm self taught. I was too busy wasting my time going to law school ha ha ha :)

    2. Oh how awesome :)
      I need to teach myself.
I have an eye for composition but the camera still intimidates me and feels overwhelming.

Good luck! *fingers crossed for you*
