Well friends, it's the dog days of summer, and I guess we've abandoned our traditional blogging practice of discussing some fine children's literature around here. I'll get back to that sometime.
But today, I have roosters-in-a-tree.
Have you ever see roosters-in-a-tree? BECAUSE I SURELY IN ALL OF MY DAYS HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A THING BEFORE.
Is this a thing? Of which I've been blissfully unaware all of my life? Now I'm tortured with curiosity. Roosters in trees? Do they like it up there? Do they have parties up there? Why are they up there? Do they sleep up there? Do they eat up there? Do they crow there in the mornings?
We weren't sure if the white one was a hen or a rooster? How do you tell? Do all roosters have red combs or waddles or whatever those thingys are called?
I realize now, that my dearth of knowledge about roosters is something I must rectify asap.
I must know more about roosters.
And if there isn't a picture book about roosters in a tree....well, there really should be.
Curiouser and curiouser! Never seen that! Please do share the information when you find out! But that's a pretty funny sight!!!
ReplyDeletecuriouser, yes yes!!!!! they looked so cute sitting up there!
DeletePlease tell us what you discover! What a funny thing to happen upon.
ReplyDeletei'm telling you, it was so funny to see them just hanging out in this tree....:)
DeleteWhere is this? They look so pretty up there! Mr. B, former farmboy, says roosters just want to be at the highest point they can be, and the tree was probably it! Great pictures.
ReplyDeletewe saw them a park we had a dinner picnic in! that makes a lot of sense, Andrew was saying that they like to sit on barn tops right? or so we think? funny roosters!
DeleteMy kids would have gone crazy seeing roosters in a tree! I still remember how excited Miss C. was when we spotted three or four large wild turkeys walking across her great-grandma's rooftop. That was awesome!

Delete"Oh, There are Chickens in the Trees! There are Chickens in the trees! Won't you listen to me please- there are Chickens in the Trees!" courtesy old school Sesame Street... a very vivid memory from childhood TV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tvv5gL1pGb0 If the link doesn't work just search "chickens in the trees sesame street' on youtube.
ReplyDeleteWe had several chicken's that roosted up in trees when I was kid. We always thought they took to the trees to stay away from predators like raccoons and foxes. Who knows? :)
FABULOUS!!!!!!!!! Oh I'll go watch asap! Clever you!!!!!
DeleteWell I'll be!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of nor seen such a thing.
Maybe it's too keep cool?
Wild!
Wouldn't it be weird to walk down the street....and just see tons of roosters, all kickin' it in trees all the time??
DeleteThis is hilarious! I have never (ever) seen such a thing!
ReplyDeleteI'm telling you, it was the strangest sight! I guess because I so associate chickens as ground dwelling creatures. :)
