Happy Friday! We survived the first week of school. My kiddo got up every day with a smile on her face and got back into the school pool like a ducky heads out into a pond full of breadcrumbs. I don't like how quiet the house is, but good news: I cleaned my hall closet and we can actually put shoes in it now. I didn't think this miracle could ever occur within my lifetime. It's amazing. Everyday I come home and I'm like, huh, where to put my shoes....OH! I can put them in the closet now! It's the little things.
COOL STUFF I peeked at this week. A lot of food:
Summer Fruits and Sunny Days. lovely!
I want to do all of this, only for fall.
Blackberry butter.
Sweet Paul Fall is here!
Breakfast Quesadillas.
A whole lot of awesome going on here.
Julia and I are super excited for this movie!
Another kiddo cookbook. (and in other news, Anthro is still pricey. go figure.)
My aunty just sent me this book in the mail! So I can make my plum jam.
Pretty ways to display books.
Cool Book of the Week: 'A Necklace of Raindrops and Other Stories' by Joan Aiken and Kevin Hawkes. Saw this the other day on Amazon, and if my library doesn't have it, well I think I might just need to buy this one! It had me when I saw that the stories include tales of a flying apple pie, a house that lays an egg, and a man who saves the North Wind. It sounds absolutely fantastic and it's my next must-find book.
Have a lovely weekend!!! I've been trying to get my family to Ikea all summer long. Maybe this weekend is finally the time. I miss Ikea. It's my Happy Place.
~Melissa
Scrambled eggs and avocado win everytime in my household, dear Melissa! And how funny: our downstairs cupboard has also been cleared and we too can put our shoes in it! Amazing! Our first week of school is done and dusted and, I am so very glad to report, it has been a success.
ReplyDeleteThat books looks awesome and I giggle when I think of all the books I've ordered since visiting your blog ;-)
Hugs from afar,
Stephanie
ps I'm gifting a special hare on my blog and over on Facebook too...if you are in the slightest bit interested ;-)
Oh Stephanie, is that bunny finally up for grabs?? Am I the SLIGHTEST BIT INTERESTED??? i'm heading over to your pages RIGHT NOW!!!!! xoxoxo
DeleteCleaning up is something still on my list, always on my list! "Frozen" seems like a really fun movie! Gotta show that trailer to my kid! And if you know where I can get that Newsstand-Style Corner Display Rack, please tell me!!! I need one like that!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I 'spring' clean more in the fall than I do in the spring! :)
DeleteCool, a spice rack? Sounds perfect. As does that book, one to be bought now, enjoyed by me and then hidden till Christmas. (Sorry, I shouldnt have mentioned the word, its my excuse to keep buying kids books now that the summer holiday reading excuse has passed.)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Miss Lucy about the book! I'll do the same I think :)
DeleteSoulemama makes me want to go back to summer... in New England. Not here. (It's really HOT here again!) I would totally eat those sweet quesadillas. (PB and Banana is one of my favorite combos!) The kiddo cookbook looks very nice. I have been drooling over the idea of Sweet Paul's pumpkin bruschetta. Soooooo making that this fall! My sister and I used to daydream about Disney making The Snow Queen. Now they sorta are, but not really, since the story is completely different. Sigh. Your breakfast photo in the lead looks delicious! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteI know they must be a regular family like everyone else, but seriously, i feel like they have some magical farm life in New England that should exist only in a storybook. SO beautiful!
DeleteI like my eggs :)
I love all of those creative book storage nooks, especially the tree. And those breakfast quesadillas look so yummy! We're not big banana fans here, but I like the idea of using peanut butter, strawberries and chocolate chips.
ReplyDeleteI don't know these simple yet clever ideas never occur to me. Breakfast quesadilla. SO great!
DeleteAll that food! mmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteThat list of things to do- it was great. I think I need to have music playing more often. I'm always forgetting about that. On days when I play music I'm happier.
Glad the first week of school was a success!
SO quiet around here! Andrew keeps shoving the cat in my face, saying "this is your new baby". NO THANK YOU.
DeleteAhhhh the book storage really got me too! I want to do all those things. I also want to do a few in the corner of MY bedroom as my bookstack next to my bed is getting HIGHER AND HIGHER! So much to pin...
ReplyDeleteAt some point, I'm just going to abandon all pretense at orderliness, and just let the books lay where they've been tossed. :)
DeleteAvocado with eggs? BRILLIANT!!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to camp like that too! But fall for me too.
Charlotte and I are super excited about the Disney movie "Frozen!"
ReplyDeleteThose eggs and avocado look like perfection. Can you please come to my house and make some for me?
ReplyDeleteTonight?
I shouldn't gawk at food pictures when I'm hungry *stomach rumbles*.
Hope Julia is have a great time back at school!!!
