Cool Stuff I Like

September 27, 2013

Happy Friday!! See those potatoes??!! WE GREW THOSE POTATOES!!! And then we ate them. Skillet fried potatoes!! They were so delicious! I will only write sentences that end in exclamation points forever! We still have more! Next I am going to make a potato gratin! Or maybe a warm potato salad!! WE GREW POTATOES!!!!!!

COOL STUFF this week....

I had another photo run on Momfilter :) (this is exciting to me b/c nothing exciting happens to me ever.)

This book looks amazing......love Sophie Blackall!!!

Totally into this woman's kid photography.

Fall fairy lights.

Apple Cider Pancakes.

Love this idea for seasonal decorating.

Pumpkin Spice Galette.

Maple Oatmeal Raisin Skillet Cookie.

Counting the days...(any other Sarah Addison Allen fans out there?)

Pottery Barn Kids has a blog, looks cute.

Maru has a kitten friend!!!

(WARNING: What you are about to hear makes noise) Andrew and I and Julia heard this song years ago and thought it was terribly funny....and we just discovered that there's a website! (Please don't send me hate mail when you can't get it out of your head)

Cool Book of the Week: 'Fortunately, The Milk' is Neil Gaiman's latest and it's a-coming to our home, oh yes it is! Time travel and breakfast cereal?? I MUST KNOW MORE. The worst thing happens (seriously, this is Andrew's worst nightmare.) to a family one morning...they wake up and they are OUT OF MILK. So the daddy in the family goes to fetch some milk. When he gets back, he has the wildest, craziest story involving ponies, aliens, pirates, dinosaurs, hot air balloon thingies and the milk was in peril at every turn. This is brand new this month and I think we've got to read it.

Have a lovely weekend!! Still agonizing over Halloween costumes over here......

  1. Me me me! I'm a Sarah Addison Allen fan. I can't wait!

Halloween costume agony? Good luck! Are you dressing up or just deciding what to do for Julia?

Baby Whimsy is going to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.

  4. You grew potatoes! That is really exciting. Hoping to finally grow some of my own food next year now that we have a yard of our own.

The last time I visited, my mom sent me home with some Sarah Addison Allen books but I haven't started any of them. (I've honestly been a bit skeptical!) Glad to hear another endorsement.

    1. LAUREN!! Oh I've missed you so! Just saw your seed cake recipe, off to go comment. Hope the new house adventure is going well! You have to read 'Garden Spells' -- as a foodie, you will love it :)

  5. A giant cookie for breakfast? I am IN! My children will shower me with praise tomorrow morning! And then we will go to Goodwill and scout for Halloween costumes. (Nobody has any ideas. Not a one.)

  6. Re-writing my entire comment as Google just decided to reload the page. Poo.

I can't wait to check out the Neil Gaiman book! We loved The Mighty Lalouche, as we also love Sophie Blackall, and we just read the first half of the new Ivy & Bean last night, as a matter of fact. I still need to read two other Sarah Addison Allen's that are sitting on my bookshelf, so the new one will have to wait. I'm counting down the days to the new Alice Hoffman (February! Too far!) myself. I love the fall lights, and I love pumpkin anything and everything and I'm so happy it's finally fall! Congrats again on the new photo on Momfilter, and I'm so jealous of your potato crop. That picture looks so yummy. Off to add the PBK blog to my Bloglovin. Have a beautiful weekend! Happy Fall!
