Actually, I've made that threat to several of my bookish friends. That's probably not the greatest way to hold onto my friends eh? Threaten to steal from them? Hey, book thievery happens every day. When you ask to borrow a book from someone, you should just ask if you can keep it, because you know you ain't giving back that book. Giving back books is hard.
That's why I have so many library fines.

Oh and she collects amazing dolls as well, and has them artfully arranged amongst her books.
She doesn't just have bookshelves. Danzel has book SHELVES. Get it? Shelves actually made out books? Or faux books? This is so cool.
I might be making this up but I seem to recall Danzel telling me that she had an aunt who actually made that Scarlett O'Hara (that's who it is right?) doll in the photo up above.
And see her Irish folk tale collection?? She has an Irish folktale collection!
She has an 'Alice in Wonderland' shelf, complete with matching dolls! I'm losing my mind! Her dolls match her books! This is so fab! And rad! It's radderfab.
Oh my stars, look at this doll in red. This looks Japanese. I'm freaking out.
Look at this vintage pile of treasure! 'The Birds' Christmas Carol' (which is supposed to be amazing) and a Horatio Hornblower book!
Thank you Danzel, for reminding me that 'Socks' is a great and fabulous book.
Julia and I JUST FINISHED reading 'Raggedy Ann in Cookie Land' by Johnny Gruelle. Just finished it! Do you have any of the original Raggedy Ann and Andy series books? I've mentioned them before, they are so darling, so sweet, and just right for kids in grades 1-3. The Raggedys have fine adventures in various magical lands that always seem to have hot dog trees, chocolate ice cream mud puddles and cream puff bushes. Don't read these books if you're hungry. But you must read them, they are the most sweetly old fashioned and wonderful books ever.
Thank you SO much Danzel! Your home is overflowing with wonderful books. (Oh and I can't wait to start reading some 'American Girl' books with Julia! I spy one in the book pile up above.)
Sigh - I need to sort out some sort of bookshelf solution. Storing books in banana boxes in the basement makes me blue and depressed. But, I cheer myself up with photos like the one in this post. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWe bought our house with one thought in mind...is there enough room to store all of our books? And we still need more book shelves! Book storage is indeed a dilemma for book lovers....:)
DeleteYay! What a cool treat after a weekend of being sick. Thank you so much, my friend! And yes, my great-aunt in Oklahoma made the Scarlett doll, and the doll in red is a Korean pose doll from the '70s, which are slightly cheaper than the Japanese pose dolls. Aww, you made my clutter seem presentable! That's what I go for in real life... Big hugs! Hope you're having a great Labor Day weekend!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better! Thank so much for sharing your delightful space with us!!!! That doll is incredible.
DeleteWhat a fun funky miss. She must be an awesome gal.
ReplyDeleteDanzel is the greatest!! I found her and stalked her on Pinterest until she became my friend :)
DeleteLove these photos! Reading your posts always results in me putting tons of books on hold at the library. My library thanks you. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrea! And ha ha ~ Hurray for the library! Hey, writing my own posts has me putting books on hold at the library :)
DeleteI am completely in awe of Danzel's INCREDIBLE library. For the record, people like me have book shelves. The awesomeness above can be classified as a library. So cool!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing? Isn't SHE amazing? love it all so much.
DeleteWhat an amazing collection! And so beautifully displayed x
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeska!!!! Doesn't she have some lovely things?
DeleteI love this bookshelf tour idea! And I am so inspired to redo my bookshelves after seeing Danzel's! I love how she matched her dolls with the books ^_^
ReplyDeleteI wanted to start doing it b/c really, I am so nosy, you have no idea! I love to see inside other people's homes, that's one reason I love blogs so much :)
DeleteHow did I miss this post?!? WOW!!! What fun to have a little tour of Danzels book world! I loved it! If I were to send you pictures of mine it would be children's books lying all over the place in no real order just piles on all the edges of my rooms wondering if they'll ever be put in some nice place to live. ;)
