I swear I'm seeing more beautiful flowers now than I did all summer! Dahlias. Late summer roses. Heather. Faded hydrangeas, my favorite.
We are SO excited for fall around here! The past couple of nights, its been cold getting into bed. I'm both excited and ambivalent about flannel sheet weather. I love my flannel sheets, but in May or June when we take them off for the summer, I am so sick of my flannel sheets, and then I really want something cool, crisp, light and airy. But right now I'm excited.
We pulled half of our little potato harvest out of the ground yesterday. That was THRILLING. No jokey. It was like finding little purple easter eggs! Everytime we'd pull one out, Julia and I would yell "POTATO". No, we don't annoy our neighbors at all.
Oh these fall flowers? They are not even remotely mine. I creeped into the yard of this retirement community and took photos of their amazing flowers. Aren't they amazing??
Your flower photos are superb! I am surprised there are still so many in September! I share your excitement for fall and colder temperature. It's never truly cold enough to change our bedding or blankets but it's still fun to be able to go out and not sweat a ton!
ReplyDeleteYay for harvesting your potatoes! Gardening and planting seems like highly rewarding hobbies! I wished I wasn't so allergic to so many things and be able to experience that!
Not sweating is always a plus! According to my husband :)
DeleteThey are gorgeous! Too bad you couldn't sneak in a small pair of pruners to collect a little bouquet for yourself. ;) Those colors are really vibrantly fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 dahlias! I could cut those. My 2 puny dahlias. These people are clearly dahlia growing fiends :)
DeleteI am so excited for fall. We've had bits of fall weather here and there (in August, mind you), but it will be 90 degrees today and I am tired of that. We're going to plant some more mums this year. In keeping with my love for the cooler months, mums are my favorite flower. Your flower pictures are gorgeous, by the way.
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of your potato crop. I wish I'd have planted a garden this year. After two years of gardens burning up, I just didn't have the heart. And this year, it would have been fine. Go figure.
Thank you my sweet D. I would be tired of 90 degrees after 1 day. We've been freezing our booties b/c the temp has dropped to mid 60's. In 4 months, that's going to seem like a heatwave!
DeletePictures of flowers. Just what I needed today. Thanks for the pick-me-up. Oh, and the giggle about potatoes.
ReplyDelete"POTATO!!!!" see? I'm still doing it!
DeleteMy goodness, you've reminded me that I need dahlias in my garden! Gorgeous photos too!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Miss M! My mom in law and aunty in law planted the dahlias for us last year. I take no credit. Oh, my mom in law also planted my potatoes!
DeleteSo lovely. :) Thanks for sharing.
