Momfilter Photo

Well I had a post already to go about some fall books. But that will have to wait until next week, because I have to brag for a moment. Not a humble brag either. A plain 'ol braggy brag! I entered a photo contest that Momfilter was running (do you know Momfilter? Run by Pilar Guzman and Yolanda Edwards? the wizards who used to run my beloved Cookie magazine? Pilar got another awesome job as top dog at Martha Stewart Living mag, and now she's moved on to running Conde Nast Traveler, so I guess she's not too sad about Cookie folding. BUT I STILL AM.)

Remember this pic up above? I ran it on a Friday post not too long ago. Anyway, I didn't win the win-a-camera contest. Lena Corwin did and she's super awesome talented! So that's okey dokey artichokey.

But the very lovely folks at Momfilter did run the photo I submitted (the one above) on their 'Remembering' column! And that's neato! Because more people probably see that blog on one day than have ever seen my blog, like, ever! Was that sentence even remotely in the realm of proper english? (no)

Here a couple more I took on that same day. I love these pix. My sweet happy girl. This summer she really turned into...a kid. Not a little kid anymore. A kid. But with enough little kid vestiges that she still loves her mama-snuggles and her stuffed animals and believes that her teacher from last year is LITERALLY an angel. Although I don't run as many big photos of Julia anymore on the blog, since she's getting older and I want to respect her privacy, she's the reason I take photos at all.

Anyway, yay hurray! It's a tiny nugget of cred I can insert into my soon-to-be photo website.

  1. Congrats Melissa! It is a very good photo and I am glad you got recognized for it! Oh I hear you about respecting their privacy. AS they get older, kids become more camera shy and I totally understand them. But hurray for those great pics for now. Can't wait to see your new website!

  5. She is such a beautiful girl. And she's looking so grown up now! It's so evident now that you show less of her face. Congratulations on the exposure - you deserve it!

    1. She thinks she is 35 --- but will tell me jokes about a fist in bread being a knuckle sandwich and crack herself up. 7 is a fun age!
