Cool Stuff I Like

Happy Friday! I've learned some very important Halloween facts this week. Julia told me that 1) ghosts can only enter the house that they are haunting, and 2) it takes 1000 yrs for a decomposing body to become a zombie. There. Are you not enlightened? Also, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln is very polite, and apparently knocks before entering your room. (she read a book about ghosts at school. I want that book!) And in other news, the other night Andrew and I watched the original 'Bride of Frankenstein' movie and it was a hoot. Also, I've been pretty darn good about staying OUT of the Halloween candy. I have not been as good about staying away from every pumpkin product Trader Joe's is selling right now. We have pumpkin waffles (awesome), mini pumpkin pies (awesome), a regular size pumpkin pie (also awesome), pumpkin pasta sauce (haven't tried), and pumpkin butter (i like the apple butter better). Oops the pasta sauce came from Cost Plus, my bad.

COOL STUFF I liked this week (there's an apple theme):

Wow! These books are amazing.

Old Fashioned Apple Crisp.

Book lockets!

Caramelized Apple Oatmeal.

Just ordered this book for Julia for Christmas.

This film just went to the top of my want to see movie viewing list!

Fall Baking ideas.

A Pumpkin Spice body scrub.

Alicia always write delightful posts, but this one was extra delightfuller.

Cool Book of the Week: 'Allegiant' by Veronica Roth is here! It's here, all you 'Divergent' fans!!! Are you out there? I love this series and I've been pacing like a tiger waiting for this one to come out. I've heard it's good. Entertainment Weekly gave it a B+. SO SO excited! (I've heard.....don't get attached to too many characters.)

Have a lovely weekend! Julia is going to watch original 'Star Wars' for the first time. We're so excited. I saw it when I was exactly her age. I remember being totally blown away! Wish me luck also with the Halloween "playdate"...it's NOT a party! (yeah right.)

  1. I love apple crisp. I want that fairy tale book. Thank you for the William-Sonoma link. YUM. SOOOOO excited for The Budapest Grand Hotel. I love Wes Anderson movies so much. What a fabulous trailer. I loved that post of Alicia's, too. And I just got Insurgent from the library. I'm always behind nowadays...

    1. oh I'm jealous, you have a fun book to read now! sometimes it's better to wait until all the books in a series are out, so no waiting time! xo

  2. I am always amazed by the quiet books but this one is especially beautiful! Love the fall baking ideas. Just wishing I could make them as easily as it looks! Ha! Have a great weekend playdate!

    1. wasn't that incredible? what a lot of clever things there out there for kids.....:)

  3. That Julia is one funny smart gal.

I loooove that you're eating everything pumpkin!

    1. My vote for the top pumpkin product....the waffles! Really really good :)

  4. Hello Melissa! Where, oh where, have the past few weeks gone? It's been a while since I graced your wonderful blog with my presence ;-) I too love the fact that you are eating, drinking and breating pumpkins - I love pumpkins - and I agree with you about Alicia's post: quite magical, right?

Hugs to you my dear as always,

    1. My darling Stephanie. Time has run away from us. I'm reminded of the fact that we first "met" around this time, 2 yrs ago! Wait, TWO YRS AGO????? Is that right? Oh my stars.
