Cool Stuff I Like

Happy Friday! Julia and I watched our first Christmas video! And have been singing Christmas songs in the car! Every year it's the same thing. Mid-November and we just can't help ourselves. A grocery store I went into the other day had a fabulous deal: cute rolls of wrapping paper for $1! What?? So awesome! Did you see my holiday gift list from the other day? Here's a question, all you folks with 6, 7, or 8 year olds....what are you thinking of getting your kids this year?

COOL STUFF this week:

Kid friendly chili.

A giant Princess Yeti??? I totally entered this contest.

This is how I like my Thanksgiving stuffing. No mushrooms, sausage or cornbread.

Look at this darling Advent calendar!!!!

I made these crispy fish sticks and they were awesome.

Autumnal reading list from Rhythm of the Home.

Have you seen Sweet Potato Chronicles? A site devoted to family friendly meals.

This photo. Oh yes.

SO excited for this movie!!!!!! My beloved Emma!

A Thanksgiving garland made from kiddo art. LOVE LOVE.

Dried orange peel decor.

Cool Book of the Week: 'The Sandman and the War of Dreams' by William Joyce. Over the past 6 months or so, we've been reading 'The Guardians of Childhood' series with Julia, and we were hopping about like mad bunnies when she and I discovered that there was a 4th book just newly released. This one is about Sanderson Mansnoozy, aka The Sandman. Our mad bunny hopping came to an abrupt end however, when we snatched up the book and brought it home and got all excited to read it and then....realized we haven't read the book yet about the Easter Bunny! Doh.

(These books are so beautifully illustrated and such high quality writing....they would make WONDERFUL Christmas gifts!)

Have a lovely weekend! It supposed to get colder here in the next few days. Someone told me that there are only 6 weeks until Christmas and I officially began to PANIC. Why will I never ever learn to start my Christmas prep in July.....

  1. That's how I like my Thanksgiving stuffing too (though I like mushroom but just not in the stuffing). That photo of the older sister holding her baby sister.... so precious! I have been singing Christmas carols for quite some weeks now! I just can't help myself either LOL This year, my boy will get an Octonauts toy : the GUP E which we finally found at Toys R Us! It's been on his want list forever so I hope he'll be happy! What are you getting for Little Miss J?

    1. There's an Octonauts ship??? SO cool!!!! Oh man, if that had been out 2 yrs ago, Julia would have lost her mind over that. I honestly don't know what we're getting her. Maybe a magic trick set, and for sure the walkie talkies.

  2. The Easter Bunny book is number 2! I didn't get past the first couple of chapters before I had to return it to the library. I'm thinking of getting a boxed set for Big Sis for Christmas. (We have the tooth fairy book, 3, thanks to lots and lots of Honey Nut Cheerios, though!) I'm so excited for that movie, too. I love Aunt Peaches' feather garlands. Totally just entered the yeti contest. The orange peel stuff is very pretty! Bet it smells good, too.

    2. So I was at the grocery store the other day, and they had The Rise of The Guardians on DVD for SIX DOLLARS. Yes, it went into the cart.

  3. That stuffing recipe is incredibly close to my grandma's "Depression Dressing". And you know, I have always believed that the simplest recipe is the best. All of those fancy stuffings just aren't the same.

That advent calendar is lovely! We bought one of the Lego calendars this year. My kids are going to go crazy when they see it! xoxo

    1. oooooh the Lego ones are so fun and awesome! Sigh. I love advent calendars so much. I could have 5 of them, opening little windows all day and be super duper happy. :)
