Cool Stuff I Like

December 20, 2013

Happy Friday my lovelies. I'm super excited for Christmas to come and be over with, so that I can fully enjoy Christmas! Do you know what I mean? Next week I'll have a couple posts planned but then I'll be taking a few days off after Christmas. So no Friday post next week. I know, it's devastating. :) I'll make this week's list a bit extra long for you, because I like everything I see on the internets.

Festive COOL STUFF this week:

Hot cocoa cookies.

A whole lot of Nutcracker goodness!

Does anyone watch this show other than me? I love this year. This show infuriates Andrew with its total disdain for logic. He swears they change the entire plot every other episode. And that the answer to every question is answered with 'because it's magic that's why!'.

Did anyone know there was a sequel to the book 'Chocolat'??? And a third book??? (found out via this awesome book list)

Bought this book for my sis-in-law for Christmas. I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy one for myself as well, it's supposed to be great.

Loved this post.

And this one. Always. This blog. Forever.

Indoor s'mores.

This pom-pom stick tree is next on my list.

When I see a recipe that calls for a tablespoon of ginger, I know it's prolly a good gingerbread cake recipe.

Cookie tin 101.

You have got to see this party.

Mincemeat squares.

A new Disney movie with a Polynesian heroine!!

Hoping for this cookbook for my birthday next month. I love breakfast cookbooks!

I created a Gingerbread Pinterest board. Because I don't spend enough time on Pinterest.

Haru and Mina. Utterly delightful photos.

Cool Book of the Week: 'Snowflakes For All Seasons' by Cindy Higham. Doesn't this look fun? I love the rainbow assortment of snowflakes on the cover. I think I'm going to cover everything with paper snowflakes come January. I think this book would be esp good for me, so I can try and compete (because life is a COMPETITION, ha) with Andrew in the snowflake department. I am sadly lacking compared to him.

Have a lovely weekend! Well Christmas warriors, this is it. The last hurrah before Christmas. Go get 'em. Fight! Pillage! Destroy! Fine and worthy Christmas sentiments, n'est-ce pas?

~Melissa

  1. I do watch that show and my husband also can't watch it with me. But a polar bear on an island and time shifts didn't phase him. I say we all make pom-pom trees in January!

  5. Love your photo! Okay, let's see... First, thanks for the traffic! ;) I gave that show a try, watching the first season on Netflix, and gave up. It's the Disney stuff I couldn't handle. That, and how the heck does a cop's hair stay so bleeping perfect, all curled and bouncy, all the time??? That's the most magical thing on the show, I think. I actually read the first sequel to Chocolat (ARC copy), but didn't know there was a third! This is the sort of thing that makes me hate not working in a bookstore. I haven't read Snobs, although I shelved many copies, back in the day. I'm PMSing, so I couldn't linger on the words on Sweet Fine Day for too long. Beautiful photos, though. Love Posie Gets Cozy. I had somehow overlooked this week's Sunday Cake post. UGH! The girls just told me I have to make that. Interesting-sounding Disney movie. (For the record, we love Lilo & Stitch, but yeah, this sounds a bit different...) ;) We've made a bunch of simple snowflakes and stuck them all over the fireplace. I am bad about following directions, so I've never advanced from my usual method. HA! Happy Weekend!

    1. I have had a love/hate relationship with that show. last year it was mostly hate, but I'm liking this year a lot. A similar thing happened to me with Lost, I think I nearly gave up during season 3, it was terrible! But I hung on. I watch it for the villains. They are all so much better than the entire Charming family. I learned a new snowflake technique, it involved me using lots of tape. I'll take a picture of the 3D snowflake we made. :)
