Holiday Homelife

December 30, 2013

HI FRIENDS!!! How was your holiday?? As always, I am having such a great time in the week between Christmas and New Years. The day itself was exhausting, although Julia got up at 5 instead of 4:30am so that was....an improvement?

Here's a rundown of the past few weeks, in case you've had your own affairs to attend to :)

Stomach flu, Christmas prep, my mom in law made HOMEMADE cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning, I'm so impressed, Julia got a little lap harp, and a Rainbow Loom, I AM NOW OBSESSED WITH RAINBOW LOOM (it's going to give me major frown lines from the deep deep concentrating trance I go into), it snowed for half a day so that was awesome and I draped Christmas lights on my child,

AND some lucky kid got Hello Kitty booties from Santa, we went to an awesome holiday party that had the fanciest mirrored mantel ever, Julia had a gold and ivory holiday dress thanks to my ma, we had little star cookies that came from a bag, I did not make them,

I made a miniature paper chain garland THAT WAS VERY HARD, if it is mini sized it takes TWICE AS LONG TO MAKE, but I love it and I could really sit around all day making paper chains, it's like meditation.

We still have our trees and deco up, I love felt ornaments more than any other kind of ornament. My cat Sally still lives. She ate all of my leggings and I told Andrew I was going to Target and going to buy $100 worth of leggings. (I didn't but I did find an awesome new pair in the underwear department.)

I did this fairytale Ghost of Christmas Past post which was AWESOME if you missed that one. How are you all doing?? I've missed blogging so very very much!!!

    1. we got the nuts just in a bin at the grocery store! we got a metal nutcracker and Julia and Andrew have been cracking them and wow is that ever MESSY. shells everywhere. got the cookies at Cost Plus, which is my official Christmas shopping store. we did make our own sugar cookies, which are now sadly gone ~ in January I'm going to make these frosted spiced sugar cookies -- i usually only have time (energy) to make one batch of Christmas cookies, so sometimes I have to extend my Christmas cookie making into the quieter month of January! :)

    1. i'll be be so sad when our trees go! I like to have them up for a good solid MONTH, at the end of which, they are getting kind of crispy. but i have big snowflake making plans, to fill the empty decorating hole in my heart when the trees go away.....:)

  3. I love your tree!!! And your snow and your fog and your lights-draped girl! My oldest had a gold dress for Christmas, too. Sally looks much healthier than my Katie, who has a bad thyroid and keeps losing weight. She pukes a lot, too, which is gross.

Santa got Big Sis a Rainbow Loom knock-off, but the pegs aren't in the right places and it made us sad. Not cool, Santa. Cheap isn't always better. Luckily, my ma got her a FunLoom, so the two of us have been obnoxious bracelet-making fools!

    1. oh I had that cat. Robin! he was my skinny, puking cat. Poor Robin. No one can mention him without saying 'Poor Robin!' He was a good boy, he couldn't help having terrible IBS. :)
I'm convinced Rainbow Loom will send me to an early grave. The stress!! I did recently learn the fishtail style, I feel oh so proud! A friend told me about some little girl on YouTube, I think her name is Ashley, she gives rainbow loom tutorials, it's incredible what she does!
