I haven't shown much (or any) of our house this season! So, umsie, here you go, our holiday decor depicted via my camera with too many Dutch angles, according to Andrew. I had no idea what those were. Apparently I have an unconscious desire to instill psychological tension or uneasiness within my pictures, ha ha ha!
This year, my lights in a jar are blue. My hopes for PINK were ever so cruelly dashed. EVER SO cruelly. Actually Andrew said he would surprise us, and blue was the surprise! It's like a jar full of icicles!
I've been attempting to channel my inner Scandinavian by setting out our red felt placemats on my Ikea Docksta table. Oh Docksta. How I love you. After saying No! No Docksta! for several years. Not sure why. I didn't think they were well made. I thought it would get dirty. Well we've had it for about a year now, and it's just the niftiest little table! And my husband says that for the price, we could get a new one every few years and still come out ahead in price, compared to some of the others I was pining over. How's that for sustainability and environmental consideration? (we're not really going to get a new one every few years.)
My Santa pillow is awesome and really looks a lot cleaner in real life than it does in this pic, which seems to really highlight every piece of lint for some reason.
The other day Julia and I sang lots of Christmas songs along with Pandora music station, only inserting the word 'mango' for 'Christmas' and 'jolly' for some reason, because she's obsessed with mangos right now. She and her school chums have invented a little mascot who is a tiny mango man.
A tiny mango man???
your lovely home looks so warm and inviting! I love it! (all except the jar... which does look just like icicles, but icicles are awesome- so thats good!)
ReplyDeletenext year - PINK and they'll be up through Valentines Day!!!
DeleteYour house decorations are wonderfully cozy and inviting! I love the red placemats on the white table! I wished my living room could look half this good! Tiny mango man.... children have a great imagination :)
ReplyDeleteI have very carefully avoided the big piles o' mess -- this wkend we get the house officially clean, clear off the dining room table, vacuum the pine needles everywhere and put our shoes away. always with the shoes. we have 2 shoe bins, a rack in our coat closet, and still, shoes from one end of the house to the other :)
DeleteYour home looks so lovely! Our decorations these days consist of: tree with ornaments... and... stockings. Oh, and Elwood, our Elf on the Shelf. But he's not really a decoration, more a member of the family. ;) xoxo
ReplyDeleteElwood! love it! in january i'd really love to make hanging strands of snowflakes hanging down in multiples, but that sounds......really hard. :)
DeleteLooking lovely, my darling! I love your bowl of pine cones, dried orange slices and cinnamon stick. And your stick tree. And your very European-looking table top tree. And your red placemats. I love it all.
ReplyDeleteTiny mango man, huh?
my bowl is my Noel mix that I keep from year to year, it's a potpourri made by Laura Ashley, I think you can only get it online now. I refresh it with the Noel room oil, which Andrew says smells like CAT PEE. IT DOES NOT!!! It's the best smell ever. Complex, with depth, like simmering spices -- not the cloying icky sweet smell from so many candles and potpourri sets. Excuse me, I have to go give my husband a little kick on the ankle....:)
Deleteyes. tiny mango man. it's a full blown obsession. ????????
DeleteLove it. The pom poms are a nice touch. I need some of those.
ReplyDeletei think i got those at Target for 2 dollars. I thought I would put them on my tiny tree but I tied them up on a picture one day, and there they stayed.
DeleteYay!! I am so glad your shared house photos. Everything looks gorgeous and festive! I love the red placemats and pompom garland!
ReplyDeletepom poms are my new thing! (b/c why not?) you must check out the blog Aunt Peaches.com -- she made the coolest pom pom garland I've ever seen in my life.
DeleteYour house looks so cozy and bright and cheerful...just right for a perfect Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteLove the bright red placemats on the table, they are just begging for someone to sit there and sip cocoa and nibble cookies galore:)
love it all. your tiny tree especially. and lights in a jar of course. xx
ReplyDeletei love my tiny tree better than the big tree. I could cheerfully throw my big tree away (like Anna Wintour did right before Christmas, did you hear about that? HILARIOUS), but I can't be without my tiny tree ever.
