'a portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014'

Julia: getting a jump on the next chapter in 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'.

So many firsts lately! First time reading 'Harry Potter'. First time roller skating. First Superbowl viewing (and win!). Eight years old is looming on the horizon and it's as if in the past couple months....total big kid. But still.....the snuggles and the calls for 'Mama' ~ I hope those continue even when she's all grown up.

I have a feeling a lot of our Project 52 posts will be capturing my kiddo reading a book. Hope you don't mind!

Hey, how about those Seahawks???? (I do not watch football, like, ever. But I watched every minute of the Superbowl, and I might even watch another game sometime.)

  1. I love Julia's hairstyle in this picture! She is very much into this book, she looks so focused and serious! I didn't watch the Superbowl but my husband did. We all went to his mother's house to watch it with the uncles who were all very interested in the game. My boy and his cousins went too and asked so many questions about the rules but they were really there for the popcorn ;-)

    1. we did little bubble knobs with her hair! where you pull it thru almost like a ponytail, but not all the way. So cute!! julia thinks she is a football expert now, basically she parrots whatever her step-grandpa says -- if he says 'bad call!", she chimes in, 'yeah that was a bad call!'

  2. Awww, so sweet! So glad she's loving Harry Potter!

That game... I love football, and I was really looking forward to what we thought would be a tight game. Wow... By the way, cheesy roasted Brussels sprout dip is awesome.

    1. we've actually finished Book 2 and I think we'll stay put for awhile -- the end of Book 2 scared her a bit (the eye gouging of the basilisk by the phoenix was a bit gross for her.....)

  3. That, dear Melissa, is a super sweet picture. What a wonderful age eight is, and beyond. Watch her grow before your eyes and become more complex in the best possible way. You are, clearly, onto a winner with Julia :-)
