(a portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014)

Julia: wearing my oversized black cardigan and pretending to be Hermione (from Harry Potter) in the library.

Happy daylight savings! NOT. I have love/hate for daylight savings. Love the extra light. Hate the messed up sleep for the next few weeks. The spring change really messes me up for some reason. But let's not focus on the negative! Spring is coming! We made spring dumpling soup last night for dinner.

We finally took some fairytale photos I have been waiting for 5 months to take, I kid you not. 'Firebird' photos. I was not going to take those pictures until there was some actual LIGHT to work with, and by golly, we got some this weekend! And 60 degree temps!

I swear, I had forgotten what it was like to take photos in actual light. I'm so excited to work on these pix and show you.

The neighborhood kids came out en masse, and rode bikes and played soccer and croquet and made secret hideouts in the shrubbery and bushes and had themselves a grand time. None of this has occurred since last September. I have full fledged spring fever and I want to clean everything I can find, because I have a serious problem, and that genuinely sounds fun to me.

I'm re-reading 'The Scorpio Races', have any of you read that? Woo, I love me my Maggie Stiefvater, I love the way she writes!

And I'll end today by saying that I have a jar of Trader Joe's lemon curd and I'm paralyzed with indecision as to what to do with it. Put it on biscuits? Scones? Muffins? Tarts? I seriously can't decide, which is why it's been in my pantry for 4 months.

  1. I'm dying this morning. Daylight savings time is killing me... I really wish someone would do away with this awful tradition.

Break open that jar of lemon curd, my dear. Put it on scones, toast, muffins, whatever you can. It will serve as a worthy distraction from the misery of DST. ;)

  2. Yay for your Hermione look a like! That's a great one. I love it when kids cosplay as their favorite characters. Oh the time change in Spring is not something I like either. I much prefer the Autumn time change! And now I am craving for dumplings soup...

  3. So CUTE! Love how light it was tonight (will you remind me I said that in the morning when I'm having to peel these girls out of bed!!!) As for lemon curd - I'd vote for a scone or in a pound cake/curd/whipped cream triffle. Sounds so springy!

  4. I love this picture! Very excited to see the Firebird pictures. It was in the 70s today, but my very, very sick oldest daughter and I were asleep for most of it. Illness sucks. It will be in the 60s and 50s the rest of the week. I hate DST normally, but poor Little Sis is the only one on a normal schedule right now. It's affecting her more than anyone.
