Cool Stuff I Like

April 4, 2014

Happy Friday to you all! I think I'm going to streamline this Friday space a bit. Like, do I really need a whole tagline saying "Cool Stuff for you this week....." -- seems redundant eh? Doesn't my lead photo sort of already say that? Do you like the butterfly dancing pic up above? First time Julia and her friends have been able to play in our wet, soggy yard since last fall. For my Project 52 photo next week, I'll share another one of the photos I took that afternoon, because I know not all of you have 'liked' my photography Facebook page yet. Which leads me to wonder.....

Have you wandered over to 'like' my Melissa Glynn Photography FB page? That's where all the fun and interesting photos get posted these days! :)

WHERE AND HOW FAST CAN I GET ONE OF THESE??? Julia would lose her mind.

ha ha ha! i think all bloggers can relate on some level.

i'm obsessed with marmalade right now.

Super cute gardening gift for kids.

Ok you will freak out at the last photo. the whole post is awesome (PEACHES, I WANT TO MOVE INTO YOUR HOUSE) but when you see the last photo, you will 'splode with happy awesome.

the perfect chocolate chip cookie?

I just found a blog called chinesegrandma.com and I am so delighted!

Very thrilled about this.

Strawberry Milkshake Cupcakes.

Bunny crafts.

Cool Book of the Week: 'Stand Up for Yourself & Your Friends' by Patti Criswell and Angela Martini is a book put out by American Girl. Julia saw it the other day and asked if we could have it, and me, the book sucker, went ahead and got it for her. She LOVES it, read the whole thing at one go, and then endlessly quoted the book to me for days afterwards. There's also a mini book attached that is geared for parents.

Julia is very much at the age where playground situations arise, and friends are sometimes hurtful, and she likes to discuss it all with me. I thought the way the info was presented to be really grand -- real life scenarios are presented, with a variety (awesome!) of responses to those difficult scenarios laid out very clearly. The book helps to give kids words/behaviors that might elude them during in-the-moment conflicts. I was impressed! Really cool to aid kids in 1) identifying bullying behavior and 2) doing something about it when/if the need arises.

Have a lovely weekend!!!!!

  1. That gardening kit is completely adorable, mostly because of the GNOME!!!!! I really thought those Moxie Girlz must be an April Fools joke, but no, I found the official website. My daughters are grossed out. :) http://www.moxiegirlz.com/ LOVE the crazy German guy on Peaches's post. I need to get some of the American Girl nonfiction like this one. Very practical. We are having a big after-school playdate today. Hooray! I hope you have a lovely weekend!!!

  2. I was cracking up at that blogger post. Oh my goodness, she hit the nail on the head with that one! And that German guy with all those eggs is AMAZING!!! I have to admit that the Moxie Girlz doll is alternately creepy and funny... though I'd probably never bring a pooping unicorn into my house. We already have enough poop talk 'round these parts, I don't need a tiny animal to fuel the fire. ;)

  3. Thats very funny about the food blogging. For my sons birthday I actually thought about getting mason jars and stripey straws for drinks until I realised that I lived in the REAL world and not pinterest and that seven year old boys and glass jars ..you know where I'm going with this. Have a great weekend! ps Theres a blog called My Book Affair that did an interesting review of the Moomin book you did yest.
