My other orchids are not doing awesome. Maybe I need to step up my watering. Actually, they are green and doing fine, but I haven't had a re-bloom in awhile. Maybe I should get out my orchid fertilizer and give things a spring jump start.
So what we've got here are my sticks, a bunch of washi tape flags, and a few tissue paper blooms. I didn't want any blue. Julia wanted blue. So we have blue.
We have a globe now and it's awesome!
Attempting to watch TV while using the mixer. (enjoy this week's Project 52 photo!)

For those of you who might have missed it when I took a photo of it before, please admire my Hello Kitty poster. IT IS MINE. I just allow it to live in Julia's room, because I am so generous and kind that way. #goodmama #HelloKittyLove #notcrazy #PINKHAIR4EVER
You need to make these miso-mayo asian pork sliders,
from the cookbook 'Keepers'. $14! Um, that's a good price. This recipe alone is worth buying the book, no jokey. Andrew almost fainted with happy when I made them awhile back. And he's not the get excited sort. I kid you not, the man's eyebrows shot up a good inch when he bit into the sliders. (the meat is marinated in pineapple juice!) Easily in the Top 10 things I've ever made.
Potions! J made it at a friend's house ~ I think this is some kind of combo of cinnamon, food coloring, mint and tea leaves? (i'm torn. it kinda looks like a urine sample gone horribly awry or maybe it looks like a lovely ruby cordial. i'll let you make up your own mind!)
I'm so sorry that I felt the need to end this nice springy-post-filled-with-pretty on a urine sample note. This is why I'm a Bad Blogger.....
Ha! You sound like me when it comes to my pre-TV show Olivia stuff! "Be nice to that jack-in-the-box, it's MOM's jack-in-the-box, I just let you keep it in your room!" I think the stick-tree is cute! We have no spring decorations up. None. My house depresses me. There's snow on the ground this morning anyway.
ReplyDeleteSNOW! can't believe it. we had an amazing wkend, it hit 70!!! i opened all the windows! we weeded! we were outside! and tomorrow it goes back to rain and high 50's.....oh well. Still can't believe you have SNOW....
Deleteand no worries -- i have a ton of Easter deco and NONE of it is out. not a speck. just not feelin' it this year!
DeleteHahaha! I love the urine sample potion. It also looks a bit like maple syrup or, even better, some sort of crazy moonshine-style bourbon.
ReplyDeleteMOONSHINE BOURBON! that's what we'll go with. :)
DeleteLove having a sneak peek at your home! Love your spring tree, and the orchids look lovely to me! :D
ReplyDeletethank you darling Heather! I'll try and be better at keeping up with home posts. I FLIP OUT whenever you post pix of your house!!!
DeleteYour home is lovely Melissa! The Asian Pork Sliders is on my to-try list!!!! I noticed your pretty Little Pullip dolls :) I think everybody should have a trinket display case! I know I need one! Have a great week!
ReplyDeletethank you Cherie!!! yes yes!!! our dolls!!! I have you to thank for letting me know about those little cuties!!!
DeleteWow, those are strong words about those sliders. I will very likely be ordering that book...
ReplyDeletethose sliders are the reason I bought the book! and there are lots and lots of other crazy tasty looking things in there as well. i'm making some wonderful sounding meatballs from the book later this week :)
DeleteLove seeing photos of your lovely home!
ReplyDeletethank you Julia!!! i love seeing people's homes. i love decorating blogs and magazines. the day Domino mag came back on the market nearly brought tears to my eyes.....:)
DeleteI think I need four of those display cases for my girls'......treasures. Or I need to have a secret purge. Perhaps both? Either way, it is very cute. Those sliders look good too - I am working on a menu for a company dinner and I am wondering if I dare try a brand new recipe. We shall see.
ReplyDelete(psst: the word you're looking for is c-r-a-p....don't tell the girls!!! tee hee)
Deletethis used to be my company dinner for years and years: maple-mustard-little bit of butter melted together and brushed onto chicken thighs and then baked, glazing again halfway through. gruyere and cream baked noodles. and a veggie. Andrew laughs and laughs at me because seriously for yrs, that was all I made for company!
Those sliders look amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get your special sticks? Do you pick new ones or use the same ones?
I heart washi tape. It pretty much rocks. I'm not sure why it took me so long to discover it.
Globes are the best. I keep hoping I'll find a giant pull down/out schoolhouse map someday for my living room or bedroom.
we find out sticks just randomly laying around! although my favorite sticks are not these sticks, but ones i found at a park a few years back. they were thicker, more sturdy looking sticks, but eventually they broke. I need to go on a hunt for more sticks.....
Deletewe've been meaning to get Julia a globe for 3 yrs now, her grandpa sent her one for her birthday this year!
i would LOVE a giant wall map. love maps!
DeleteGorgeous flowers!!!! Love your snapshots!
ReplyDeletethank you so much! Orchids are my favorite flowers, they remind me of Hawaii :) and I amazingly manage not to kill them, which is amazing, b/c I kill everything else.....
Deletei keep meaning to get that keepers book. julia is adorable. she looks like a character in a book.
ReplyDeleteha ha ha! she's a funny bunny :)
