Flicka, Ricka, Dicka Bake a Cake
May 7, 2014
(Or you never know which book you'll see on the floor and go, oh. I guess I'll talk about this.)
'Flicka, Ricka, Dicka Bake A Cake' by Maj Lindman on Julia's bed the other day, she must have pulled it out. We have a bunch of these! There's a whole kit and kaboodle of 'em. I saw some long ago in a bookstore, and was very impressed by the retro aspect to the art, and the fact that the books are about little SWEDISH TRIPLETS.
'Cuz you know, you don't see that every day, at least I don't.
(Oh and the books don't just look retro, they are retro. From the 1930's.)
Like, when their cake burns up BECAUSE THEY PLAYED TOO LONG, naughty imps, well then they go make another cake.
I've totally have had to start again on cakes-that-I-have-ruined. This is totally a REAL LIFE SCENARIO.
*except for the swedish triplet part. i don't know why this makes me laugh so much. like, there are no triplets in Sweden, Melissa?? please excuse me for the extra dose of inane today. or insane. you pick.
'Snipp, Snapp, Snurr' books. I TOTALLY want the one about the buttered bread. Oh and you guys know I want to be a Scandinavian-Japanese hybrid person right? Just throwing that out there, in case anyone didn't know, or forgot.
You know what would be awesome? Giving a pack of these books as a gift set. They are thin softcovers, so you could stack a whole bunch together and wrap it all cute. I can promise no one else will copy your gift. Also, these are great for learning-to-read kiddos. And that's the extent of my helpfulness today. Wee! Off to make a Swedish cake!
