Cool Stuff I Like

Happy Friday! I may, or may not, have caught my first snuffle of the season. It seems to be a tiny snuffle. More of a sniffle, if you will. Mostly I need to go to bed earlier. The other night I went to bed at 12:45, which is just wrong wrong wrong. But I had a good reason! I was nearing the end of  'The Magician's Land' and I have to say - I don't think I've ever read a trilogy before where each successive book kept getting better as the series went along! I was ENTHRALLED. I haven't had such fun with a book series in years and years. Big Love. Highest praise.

Let's get to all the other fab!

Thank you internets. This is the greatest thing I've ever seen ever.

Spooky classics for children CD. (yeah....it's happening. admire my restraint please, i basically wanted to begin talking about Halloween in August!)

Homemade funfetti cake from Molly Yeh.

The anti-bucket list.

Have you seen my Autumn Pinterest board? I've been busily pinning new Autumnal nuggets o' awesome.

Hello, Wonderful is the coolest site!! I'd love to chat more about it with you, but I'm too busy pinning EVERYTHING from it.

If you liked this week's post about Blackberry Cobbler, please go back in time and take a peek at my Peach Cobbler post. There's still peaches out there waiting to be made into this cobbler!

MFAMB's fall interpretation. She's spot on, as usual.

You can do amazing things to treats with whipped cream....

What a darling unicorn book!

Cool Book of the Week: Well my girl Lainey loves it. Entertainment Weekly looooooves it. Amazon peeps love it. There appears to be nothing but love, so I'm already sold on 'I'll Give You the Sun' by Jandy Nelson. I love my YA fiction! Boy-girl fraternal teen twins Noah and Jude are crazy intense kids ~ Noah tells the story from the ages of 13-14 and Jude picks up the story from ages 16 to 17. There appears to be a Tragic Event of some kind that rips apart the once totally close siblings.

Every review I've read indicates that this is one of those books that reaches into your Place of Feelings, and twists/punches/kicks it around in an awesome way, and leaves you limp on the floor when it's done. Well, sign me up for some of THAT! I wonder how long the hold list is at the library....I was #94 for 'The Magician's Land' and I was like, ^%#@$ this, and I bought the book instead.

Have a lovely weekend! Let's hope that my sniffle stays at the low simmer it's at right now.

  5. I'm so ready for fall. We had our fall weather last weekend, when I had surgery and was stuck in the house. Now it's soupy and humid and gross again, which makes me want to go back to bed. (Which I did today.) I'm so ready for Halloweeny stuff, too. I knew you'd love the Anthropologie tumblr thing. That cake is so cute. I read the anti-bucket thing the other day, which made me laugh. Oh, goodness, I will so be sucked in by Hello Wonderful. Already seeing too much stuff to click when I should be doing other stuff! Like showering... (I really did just get up. Stupid nose not letting me sleep through the night, grrrrr....) Have a beautiful weekend!

    1. I think this weekend we had our last blast of hot weather -- and that's supposed to be it for the year. I know I'll be eating my words in 2 months, but I'm really ready to say goodbye to the nice weather and the summer!

  8. Finished The Magician's Land last night … good trilogy. I think I'll re-read it again in a few years. Might have read through it too fast this time to get all the good bits. There's a lot of good bits.
