Wildflowers

September 4, 2014

Thought you might like a peek at our wildflower garden that we grew this year! Easiest way to garden EVER. We just sprinkled the little seeds all over our little garden plot. The packet said to sprinkle a small handful, so I took that to mean.....THE ENTIRE BAG.

When they were at their peak, it was really really lovely, I was super delighted with all of our posies! Then we had a few heavy rains and the flowers got pretty pummeled. They are now looking a wee bit bedraggled, but oh well.

These were from a bag labeled 'fairy mix' ~ I think next year I might try and see if I can find a bag called 'English Cutting Garden', if there is such a thing. My mom in law says that some of these might come back next year, but I kinda want to DUMP ANOTHER BAG on the ground, hee.

  1. Your wildflowers garden turned out so good! I didn't know it could be that easy to grow flowers. I always think it takes much time and efforts, and trimming and nurturing. You really make me want to grow it myself!

  2. It's lovely! Seeing the California poppies made me smile... we used to grow those in our front yard when I was a kid. My folks even had us harvest the seeds after the petals fell off. If I remember correctly, they'll be in a long stem-thingy where the flower head used to be. You peel it open and the tiny black seeds fall out! xoxo

  8. Oh my gosh, these are soo soo pretty! By any chance, did you buy your seeds from Botanical Interests? I bought a bunch of different packets from them (that I had to save for next year) and I have one called Fairy Meadow. I am all about just throwing some seeds down and watering if the turn out like yours! :)
