37/52

(a portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014)

Julia: she's pretty much excited about everything, every day, from the moment she wakes up until she goes to sleep at night.

Hey friends! Look it's me still with my Project 52! Cuz you know what's a good thing about Project 52?? GREAT excuse for me to just slap on a photo and ramble on for awhile! Now that's some gooooooood blogging, if you ask me!

But guess what. IT'S OCTOBER, my spookies. Time for all Halloween, all the time for the next month! On Friday, I'll share our read-aloud, which we are having the best time ever with, I'm seriously making my daughter laugh, which is highly gratifying, as I try out my best attempts at a Norwegian accent (?????), English accents, little boy accent (?????) and some kind of German/Transylvanian/Prima ballerina teacher hybrid thing -- it's really bizarre whatever I'm doing, but I'll have you know ~ my daughter squealed with joy during our last chapter and yelled out: "Mommy!! You're the best actress ever!!"

(and by best, that means I'm doing a great job giving the most over-acting-est of old time B movie actors a jolly good run for their money. it's like Jon Lovitz from Master Thespian on 'SNL' - "I'm ACTING!")

  1. She's so absolutely darling. I love this picture.

    Best actress ever?

    Oh I love that.

I have a question that's off topic, does she have a smart phone or device? I was just reading this article (http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/parenting/wp/2014/09/29/parenting-as-a-gen-xer-what-its-like-to-be-the-first-generation-of-parents-in-the-age-of-ieverything/) and pondering the balance.

I ask because Julia always looks so happy, content, balanced, and full of life. She has a sparkling spirit. It makes me wonder how much time she spends online.

    1. this gives me a GREAT idea for a blog post and you know us bloggers, gotta grab at blog content when we see it -- oh some lint on the floor? BLOG CONTENT on how to keep a tidy home! your breakfast? BLOG CONTENT. ha ha ha. bloggers are silly weird, yes it's true!

(here's the short answer - she's not online much - i'll expound on this more very soon!)

  2. She looks so grown-up in this picture!!! Love her cape. Accents are the best. Hooray for October! It's a dreary, rainy first day of October here. I'm going to do one more non-Halloween or fall post today, then tomorrow I'll start my Halloweeny rambling. That's the day we'll put up our Halloween decorations anyway. ;) Happy October, my dear!!!!

    1. this was some kind of fancy-lady hairdo plus superhero thing. i love how kids will just emerge in some wild ensemble, and be all, well here i am. i hate how that adventurous spirit when it comes to personal attire gets lost, so very often -- and by the time adulthood rolls along, there we all are, conforming to whatever trend is going on and playing it safe. wow, hello soapbox! i know not everyone is like that. but i think in the PAC NW, wow people here are not into bright colors, like at all. I got a pink/purple t shirt the other day from Target and my husband said I looked like a character from Dr. Seuss. (he's a native NW person and his entire closet is grey, navy, and black. with the odd forest green thrown in for kicks!) :)

  3. Julia is a gem! Children seems to have a boundless amount of energy (I wished I had too!) but it's up to them to put it to good use and it seems she is doing all the right things :) Compliments from our own children are the most fabulous things to hear! You must be really good at accents! I can't fake an accent. I have my one terrible accent still now and my son corrects me all the time when I pronounce certain words in English >.<

  4. What an adorable picture! As an outsider looking in these last few years reading your blog, I can see Julia's face changing more and more with every photo you post. She is becoming such a beautiful young lady! xoxo

    1. oh thank you so much for the compliment! girlfriend, I see it too! because I deal with photos so much, I scroll back and it's a;; right there in front of me! I remember how she looked in her Kindergarten posts ~ the other day she was at choir practice and walked past me without seeing me at the break time and she was chatting with some friends, and I was like HOW DID SHE GET SO BIG. This is my first kid, and my only kid, and yes it's the most surreal thing to see them age before your eyes!

    2. meant to say 'all', not 'a;;' -- that was some creative typing there....

    1. Good golly woman! You must know by now that I live to spam the world with my blog, my photos, and whatever else I can find to spam -- and I'm about to join Instagram!! I'll totally do a Project 52 next yr, it just (hopefully) will be on my legit photo blog attached to my Melissa Glynn photo website. Or maybe it will be here. I tend to change my mind like the wind.....cuz I'm flaky that way!
