Cool Stuff I Like

October 17, 2014

Happy Friday my spookies!!! Want to know something Andrew doesn't know? He doesn't know *yet* about all the pumpkin products I got at Trader Joe's. Here's what I got, I do this every year, go on a pumpkin product buying binge. I got frozen pumpkin waffles, pumpkin spice cream cheese, pumpkin cinnamon buns, pumpkin tea, mini pumpkin pies, and pumpkin bread mix. They were giving samples at the store of the pumpkin bread, and they had baked it in a cake pan instead of a loaf pan, and they put chocolate chips in with it and it was the BESTEST. And I also fished out the maple pumpkin butter I had sitting in our pantry. I eat lots and lots of pumpkin in October and then I don't touch it again until the following October. Andrew's gonna freak out, but I fail to see the problem with this.

It was VERY good week for fun internet finding!

An Autumn bedroom makeover.

Sweet and salty caramel corn.

Well I wanted show you this bunny tutu dress, but they're all sold out. So here are some bunny leggings instead. (little girl sizes) And here are they are in baby/toddler sizes. (maybe the bunny tutu dress will come back? really cute site!)

Fall blooms.

What a darling Halloween party!

I found Hello Kitty Yoplait yogurt cups at Target. It was a good day.

A darling Halloween picture book collection from Pen Pals & Picture Books.

Hello cutest cake ever.

'The Tale of Princess Kaguya' is out!!! I've been waiting and waiting.

Noodle-loaded chicken soup.

OH HAPPY DAY!

For lovers of 'The Night Circus' -- you can order chocolate mice!

Ok I just discovered 'Ew!' and it made me giggle a LOT.

Cool Book of the Week: 'Maddy Kettle: The Adventure of the Thimblewitch' by Eric Orchard. Saw this over on the A Mighty Girl site and thought it looked super cool. It's a graphic novel about an 11 year old girl who travels in a moon balloon while attempting to rescue her parents, who've been transformed into kangaroo rats. She battles scarecrow warriors and spider goblins and winds up in the Thimblewitch's castle. Apparently it's very 'Wizard of Oz'-esque and the art looks amazing!

Have a lovely weekend! I think we'll be pumpkin patching. I've got my first full blown cold of the season, which I'm preparing to drown in hot cider and doughnuts.

  4. PS You have a knack for finding adorable bloggers. You should do a feature where you randomly feature them so we can share in the preciousness with you.

    1. that's such a great idea! most of the blogs I find tho are way bigger than mine, I think, so they prolly don't care about small fry potatoes me sharing their blog :) but the Laura Ashley blog does that and I've found some great blogs that way! I know some blogs do a 'Blog Crush' day, which is fun. Good thing for a post when you're feeling writer's/photo block!

  5. My kids love Ew! They love it so much that baby says Ew! at almost anything she knows is gross or bad. Ahhh Kaguya-hime! Thanks for posting the link! I was wondering when it would finally come out! And yay for pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, etc! I am no pumpkin lover but I do love those delicious bread and pies! Have a wonderful Sunday!

  6. I love the idea of seasonally decorating a bedroom, but holy !@#$, I'm lazy. Once I'm done with the part of the house other people actually see, I'm done. Love that party. Cannot wait for the HBO streaming service, although I'm worried it will cost so much, it won't be worth it. This book looks cool! I made the Swedish Chocolate Cake last night! I used a Bundt pan, which wasn't ideal, since it was actually too deep, but darn, it tasted good! There isn't much left. :) Hope you feel better soon.

    1. my way of seasonally decorating our bedroom is to bust out the flannels, which are several years old at this point, but hey. ooooh that thought had not occurred to me about HBO, oh please let it be reasonable!!!

Rainy has a birthday coming and I am super extremely thrilled that I think I have convinced her to have a tower of donuts for her cake!! YAY! NO impossible shapes this year :) I'm so excited!

Also that halloween party looked fabulous, but not effortless--- bad name for the blog-- that looked like major effort to me…just sayin'

AND, thank you for linking and apologies that I am taking so long getting around the see the link and thank you for it. xoxo

  8. Well that's false advertisement-- effortless chic? That party looked exhausting to get ready-- completely awesome, BUT nothing but effort there, just sayin.

That cake is the cutest! Seriously so adorable!

Also thank you for the link and sorry I am taking so long to getting around to seeing it and thanking you for it….and sorry if there are two comments like this? You know blogger and me have issues.
