46 & 47/52

Well here we are, still wading through our Project 52, which most people wrapped up this past week. We'll be done sometime in January, woooo! But today is a special, special photo that I'm so happy I dragged the camera out to capture.....

(a portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014 - and also 2015)

Julia: the moment she found out that the stuffed animal puppy she received on Christmas day (a dog has been on her Christmas list since age 4) is just stand-in for the real article, which is arriving in our home sometime later in January.

WELL.......we're having another baby!!!! A puppy baby!!! Get ready for more puppy pix than you ever thought possible. My blog will become a puppy blog. We're getting a Brittany spaniel and we have some names thought of, but I'll spill the name when we actually have the doggy.

I haven't had a dog since I lost my beloved yellow lab girl, Annabelle, slightly over a decade ago. I'm a little FREAKED OUT by potty training again. It's going to be me and this dog, eye to eye for a few weeks in January while I do nothing but take it to the potty every 5 seconds. I just heard about this system that involved hanging little bells to the door - I'd never heard of that! Have you heard of that? Little bells! That's pretty brilliant - if I can get it to work.

Julia has been waiting. And waiting. And waiting. I think she gave up on us ever following through and bringing a dog into our home. Andrew was like, if we're getting a dog, we're getting a DOG, that is dog-sized, and not some small floor moppy thing that is basically like a 3rd cat. Ha!

WHAT WILL SALLY SPARKLES AND ROSEBUD THINK? It's all Andrew and I talk about.

  1. How exciting!! The look on Julia's face is PRICELESS - how cool that you captured it forever. Merry Belated Christmas (although Christmas continues for our family.....just one family get-together left).

  2. Such a great picture! How exciting for Miss J!

We're getting a dog, too, a 3-month-old mutt that my aunt has been caring for, and is supposedly already trained in a lot of ways. We were supposed to get her Nutcracker weekend, but my mom wasn't able to come up then. I guess we'll get her sometime in the next couple of weeks.

  5. How exciting! We have friends who did the bell thing with great success. I was always amazed that the dog was trained to ring the bell when she needed to go out.

  6. YAY! A puppy! The picture of Julia is priceless!

I had to laugh at the bell training, a friend of mine is trying that, and the puppy rings the bell constantly, because it likes going outside. Smart little thing! We always go old school-letting the puppy out after it eats, wakes up from a nap, when they have the "look".

I hope the Bell training works for you! Can't wait to see the pictures...
