cool stuff i like

Happy Friday! I PROMISE there will be puppy next week. This is not puppy, up above. This is chicken and dumplings. Which is very delicious winter food that you should be making. Ignore the fact that my photo kind of looks like a pot of brains. Or fluffy cauliflower. We are VERY VERY tired around here - our puppy is the sweetest and the cutest and the cleverest and is also like a tiny baby that can walk, but who doesn't wear any diapers. But she's also the warmest and the squishiest and plump belliest and I love her.

My cool stuff list is a wee bit light this week because I have to take my dog out to go potty every 1.5 seconds:

Omigolly, it's my birthday this weekend! And I really think this Japanese smock needs to be a birthday present to myself.

Clementine Sunshine Smoothie.

Beautiful picturebooks featuring balloons.

Fair Isle flannel bedding for kids.

Hooooooooow did I not knooooowwwwww about all of this?

Oh yes.

Can you imagine? I want to follow along with their progress.

Clever parenting tips.

I WANT TO TAKE JULIA - hope this show comes our way!

How to make your own peppermint candle.

Cool Book of the Week: 'Sparky!' by Jenny Offill and Chris Appelhans - I can't tell you how taken I was with this book when I saw it online. Love at first sight. The art, the art, the art, the art. A little girl orders a mail order sloth and discovers that he's more fun than his sloth-like nature would lead one to assume. I must see this in person. What a cool and unusual looking piece of awesome!

Have a lovely weekend! I'll be taking my puppy potty and making my birthday cake ~ I'll try and photograph the process so I can create a future blog post. It's a chocolate cake with almond flour, which I've made a couple times before. It's lovely and a single layer, so you're not left with 10 tons of cake.

P.S. our puppy is cute. I SWEAR she'll be on the blog next week. :)

  1. Sparky is very cute. We checked it out a few months ago. We love sloths, but this book proves they do not make good pets. ;) Cute smock! I love Cookie & Kate and that smoothie looks so good. I have a friend who just saw Matilda on Broadway last night, and I was so jealous! I clicked on the link to the bedding, and Mr. B walked by and made a noise. It's very eye-catching! How cute. My mom isn't coming this weekend. They all have the flu now. I'm wondering if we'll ever get our dog. I suppose I'll have to keep working on the house instead. Blah. Although after sitting on cat puke this morning - more laundry, yay! - I'm not feeling the whole pet thing right at this moment. Have a glorious weekend!
