8:00 am. 2nd regrowth of this orchid plant. I am an orchid re-flowering magician. (Actually it's not me, it's the window. It's a magical orchid flowering window. My orchids LOVE this window!)
11:00 am. I've been begged to play Littlest Pet Shop. Our neighbor, our sweet kind neighbor showed up one day with a TRUNK of LPS toys that she had outgrown. I'm wondering when we can also someday dump all of this onto another neighbor.....
12:00 noon. Box mac 'n cheese lunch. I'm doing my part to contribute to the shockingly bland palate of the average American child. See that gate in the background? We live in a little gated community now! So that Nomi the puppy doesn't destroy everything we own.
4:40 pm. Prepping veggies for a cabbage and meatball soup made from Sunset magazine. It was good! Even though I was using cabbage left over from St. Patrick's Day and super old IKEA meatballs from the freezer. #pantrymeals
6:00pm. A little corner of our Easter window. I haven't done any stick trees this year, I've been decorating the same window during each major holiday. I think I'm going to be done for awhile. I might hang up some Japanese lanterns made from origami paper in the kitchen, but the holiday decorating fiesta that's been going on since October is now DONE.
That soup sounds amazing. And I love Orchids!
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely soup! We had bread with it and it was rustic and hearty, but not too heavy - a very good spring soup for those times when it's still chilly. :)
DeleteI am TOTALLY jealous of your orchid. I have quit buying them because the cycle of "buy and die" is too depressing for me.
ReplyDeleteBuy and die!!! HA HA HA HA. Oh that made me laugh, thank you! Buy and die is an accurate descriptor of what's going on in my ENTIRE BACKYARD. Like, a whole HEDGE died. How does that happen? Right in front of the house too!
DeleteI wish I had something useful to offer about orchids. One person did mention to me that they like shifts in temperature. So they might be really liking my window during the day, but then we keep our heat really low at night and I don't know, they just do well in that window! I can't figure it out! I water once a week, and I let the tap flow onto each plant for 4-5 minutes, to simulate a 'tropical rainstorm'. I have orchid food that I never use. I've noticed that the leaves can sometimes 'burn' if left in the direct light of the window for too long, so I have to rotate them around, and sometimes take them off the sill and just put them on the counter so they don't get a wee little sunburn.
But basically it's all a mystery to me. :)
Hummm soup.
ReplyDeleteHa! Gated community? You're too cute.
I must look up this microblogging term. I've been thinking of moving more in that direction anyway. Just for time ya know?
I loved this post. Perfect little snippets.
I know this is what a ton of people LOVE about Instagram - lots of pix, not much chatter (but I like to chatter! ha). Yes we are in a gated community now -- Or a teeny tiny prison yard. Your pick! :)
DeleteI love how you did this post! Kinda like a day in the life, or six hours I should say. Your orchid is so gorgeous! You definitely have a green thumb in the orchid department!!! And the cabbage and meatball soup looks really yummy. What issue is that recipe in? Really cute picture of Julia too, she has the sweetest smile!
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet Julia!! I've been struggling for awhile, wanting to not just abandon little life snippets, but I've been trying to put in more work and styling with the books and all other blog posts just sounded too overwhelming to accomplish - so I really like this idea of throwing up a smattering of snapshots and not stressing about it! And thank you, that's so sweet of you to say about my little Julia, I'm surprised she didn't flash me a braces smile, she's very proud of her lavender rubber bands she's sporting right now -- she decorates with the holidays too! :)
DeleteOh that issue of Sunset was the January 2015 issue - has an orange cake on the cover! It was a good one, I also made a coconut milk shrimp recipe from it that was really nice :)
DeleteOh, I love your window! How beautiful. I haven't had anything to photograph but messes and tissues and overall sicky grossness. I like looking at other people's pretty pictures! And I love your orchid. And older Littlest Pet Shop toys still make me happy. They changed after the TV show came out. Sad face. If only I could get rid of most of our other toys now...
ReplyDeletethank you sweet D! i hope you guys are on the mend soon soon soon. I remember one year about 4, maybe 5 yrs ago, we were ALL sick at Easter, like really really super sick! It was so miserable :( Feel better!!
DeleteI love the shot if the LPS madness... That's my house only Legos. All. The. Time. :D
ReplyDeleteevery few months or so, J will go through a Lego spurt and dump them all on the floor and leave them there for a week. She's really not much of a builder but sometimes she gets into it - we just discovered that there are Harry Potter and Percy Jackson Legos. She flipped out about the Percy Jackson and I flipped out about the Harry P - I want someone to make me HOGWARTS! Have you seen that thing? Incredible!!
DeleteI haven't seen it yet. BUT! You do know that Universal Studios in California will be opening up a Harry Potter land in a year or so, right? Add that your must-see list... You can double dip and hit the Hello Kitty Cafe in the same trip!
Deletei did NOT know that and yes I would VERY MUCH LIKE TO GO TO HARRY POTTER LAND! :)
DeleteI love these!! You should join our 12 in 12 monthly project. it would be great if you could!!
ReplyDeleteBut....is that still microblogging?? Ha ha ha! I'd love to do that with you guys!
DeleteOhhhhhkay, I'm a little late to the party but that is a genius idea for using up frozen meatballs. And I love love love the Easter tree. Cuteness.
