Let me back up from this fascinating story of my paper and tape. And paper clips! First I hung up a length of some old fabric washi tape I had. I didn't have enough so I had to put up not one, not two, but three scrap pieces of ribbon, which is actually old fabric washi tape that I had leftover from Valentine's Day. I tied them all together to make one long rope to string from my window.
Then I paperclipped the squares of origami paper. I was going to stop there but it looked a bit sparse. So after failing with the paper lanterns, I cut the paper into strips, cut a fringe at the bottom and taped them to the big string.
All this you see here is pretty paper, ribbon, tape, and paper clips. That's it! On the craft measuring stick of life, this is like a negative 2, it's so easy. But it looks so pretty! After I'm done hanging it in the living room for awhile, I told Julia she could have it for her room. Did I already mention that I was so delighted with myself??
Brilliant! I would never have thought of paperclips and it's so pretty and easy.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Children's Day! I must look this up!
In Hawaii where I grew up, there was Girls Day and Boys Day, holidays that came from Japan. So that's how I knew about it! Now Boys day has kind of been incorporated into Children's Day, or something like that. The traditional decor is flying paper carp fish, one per child (or boy). On Girls Day, traditional Japanese dolls were displayed :)
DeleteLovely! Origami paper is just so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI loooooooooooooove origami paper! I don't know how to do origami tho. Julia was into it for awhile, she has a book that shows how to make animals :)
DeleteThis is a lovely garland - it would be nice to put up an May Day and keep it there for the merry month of May.
ReplyDeleteThank you Claire Annette - Wow, your name is super beautiful! You betcha, I'm a big fan of May Day. Or Lei Day as we used to call it in Hawaii! I'm planning on keeping it up all month long because it makes me happy. :)

ReplyDeleteGreat job, Melissa!!! It's fabulous and very springy!! I would probably never take it down!
ReplyDeleteThanks Miss J!! I will probably leave this up until 4th of July, hee :)
DeleteWow, that is so pretty and springy! And also clever because that it's just paper clipped because you can still use the origami paper when you're finished with it!
ReplyDeleteYES! I didn't think of that, you are the clever one!!!
DeleteSo pretty and happy!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at it right now and I feel happy, ha ha ha! I think Japanese origami paper is so amazing. Also Italian Florentine paper, you know that kind with the marbleized design? I love PAPER basically :)
