cool stuff i like

December 4, 2015

Happy Friday! I'm frantically typing as fast as I can here on Thursday morning, because the winds are gusting and a BIG windstorm is supposed to blow through later today, so my usual blog-at-10-pm gig isn't going to fly tonight, I don't think, and I really can't miss posting my Cool Stuff in early December! That was a Very Long Sentence. Do you like my little holiday house up above? I have another picture of it lit up at night, I'll post it on Instagram soon. I bought this a few months ago, and I was just waiting and waiting for Christmas to come. It's by far my most favorite seasonal decoration that I've ever had in my life, I just adooooooore it. I'm pretty sure miniature trolls come and dance around on it when everyone is sleeping.

Online Decembery goodness this week:

Alice Water's cranberry upside-down cake.

Look, someone made a gift guide just for me!!

The sweetest doll house photos.

THIS would be an outstanding holiday gift for the 7-9 year old in your life.......

Healthier gingerbread cookies.

Darling art and craft books gift guide. I think I'm asking for this one for Christmas or my birthday.

Just got Julia these emoji printed leggings for Christmas.

When Santa Was a Baby.

Easy, simple gift ideas.

She's the Queen of Christmas!

Um, THIS.

Cool Book of the Week: 'The Old Magic of Christmas: Yuletide Traditions for the Darkest Days of the Year' by Linda Raedisch. Well I was looking up another book and stumbled across this one, and when I read the part that said "Not so very long ago, Yuletide was as much a chilling season of ghosts and witches as it was a festival of goodwill. In The Old Magic of Christmas, you’ll rub elbows with veiled spirits, learn the true perils of elves, and discover a bestiary of enchanted creatures" - I knew that this was something that has to come into my life! I raced to the library hold website and alas, there is one person ahead of me, but I'm hoping that it comes my way soon. The magic of Old Christmas, with old-time spells and ghosts? SIGN ME UP NOW.

Isn't this the coolest?? I think this is the coolest, and I can't wait to check it out! Honestly, I think I'm not going to bother with the library, I'm just going to go ahead and get it, this is so right up my alley.

Have a LOVELY weekend! Our tree is going up! Our tree is going up! Be well and safe my friends. Hugs and loveys for everyone.

~Melissa

    1. Hi!! you know, this came from a specialty garden nursery of all places - they sell a lot of seasonal stuff. I bought it around Halloween time. I'm not sure what company made this, and as far as I know, this place doesn't sell/ship stuff online. What I can do, though, is call them and describe the item, and ask if they have anymore of these. But I think you'd have to be in the Seattle are, in person, to get yours hands on one, if they even had any more in stock! Sorry to not be more helpful!!

  4. Your lighted Christmas village makes me smile whenever I see it. It's really so pretty. You know I had to click on that dollhouse post as soon as I saw it! (cough, not that I need another one, cough) It's always great to see people enjoy the little things in life, especially when things aren't going well around us. Pippi's story is something I will need to save up for my little girl. The boy is totally uninterested in that "girly" stuff.
