Happy Friday!! Hey, be sure and check out this week's 5 Hours 'til Bedtime, a new post is up! Well friends, I lost an entire week to hacking and coughing. One time I coughed for 5 minutes straight. I'm actually on my way to the doctor this morning, even though I'm doing better, just to make sure all is well in my chest cavity. GOOD TIMES. Amidst all the hacking, it somehow escaped my notice that Easter is coming weekend after this one. I haven't decorated, I have no supplies, I have no plans, I am a whole big bag of Easter zero right now. Correction - I have one bag of jellybeans!

Springy things I found this week:

This cake.

Wow.

Oh my word, this book looks adorable.

I am seriously hypnotized by Tara Milk Tea's Instagram feed. I can't figure out if she's magical or not? Because it seems like she lives in some magical reality. And did you get the part about how she's the ambassador for Hello Kitty?? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THAT WAS A THING???

The best Bon Appetit recipes of all time, as picked by readers.

I've always wanted to try this.

12 Easy Easter Crafts.

Beautiful roundup of spring children's books created by beautiful Rebecca.

Some very cute things to put in Easter baskets.

Amelie clued me into this news about Beverly Cleary's 100th birthday!

Cool Book of the Week: Did you know that Elsa Beskow has an alphabet book? Called fittingly, 'The Elsa Beskow Alphabet Book'. Doesn't it look so charming? If I had a tiny tot, you can bet your bottom dollar, this would be sitting inside their Easter basket. It supposedly has many illustrations from her more popular books, as well as some lesser known treasures. If you've been hanging with me for awhile, you know I have a great great great stunning LOVE for every book Elsa Beskow ever wrote and illustrated. I collect her books and this one will also probably be added to the pile.

Have a lovely weekend! Because I was sick and Andrew-the-Irish-soda-bread-maker had a work deadline, we didn't get to have our normal St. Paddy's Day dinner, so we're doing the whole spread over the weekend. And then I guess I need to figure out what the what is going on with Easter?

  1. That blood orange cake looks AMAZING. We used natural dye for Easter eggs two years ago, and they were gorgeous. We also dyed brown eggs for the first time that year, in addition to the white. They're really pretty!

Easter is so early this year. It certainly looks like spring here now, although it SNOWED yesterday. Not for very long, and it didn't stick. Gee, winter, it's too little, too late, you know?

I hope you're feeling better! xoxoxo

    1. Oh man this has been rough!I went to the doctor and he was like, yeah people think colds last about a week - no no. He said sometimes cold symptoms and coughs can last for 6 weeks. I was like, yay. You got SNOW??? That happens every once in awhile here, there will be a brief snow in April. Mostly here this year it's been rain sun rain sun.

We did a cool egg dying thing with NECKTIES! My clever mother in law's idea. I'll show and tell in a few days. :)

  2. Oh my dear, you know how I love Elsa Beskow! Fantastic roundup and thanks for the mention! Sending love, hope you're feeling better! The crud's hit us here in the east, too. I can't remember the last time I've been knocked down for so long!

  3. At first I wondered if Danzel lives where I do, but realized we got snow on the 19th. 7 inches, but most of it was gone by Monday. My daughter kindly transmitted the worst cold I have had in years, before she went back to school. I have spent the last week with a horrible sore throat, cough, and now it has morphed into a sinus infection. I haven't had one in about 10 years, and I forgot how awful they are.

I think mild colds last a few days, but the hardcore stuff can last a long time.
