cool stuff i like

August 12, 2016

Happy Friday! I know. I've been scarce around these parts. End of summer, all that roo-rah, I think everyone is in the throes of end of summer skedaddle, and I have no time for anything. WHAT KIND OF SENTENCE WAS THAT?? I'm really happy that I got a post up today. I promise I'll have more than one post next week, or at least I promise to promise. Since we're all in a race against time in regards to summer (am I sad? am I glad?), I'll be brief in today's post and just throw info at you quicky-loo-like. I'm sorry that apparently I can't write real words anymore.

Cool stuff this week:

I had no clue Anna Dostoyevski was so amazing.

Anatomy of a weeknight dinner.

Really want to check out this cookbook.

I'm speechless at this amazingness.

How to raise the world's happiest kids.

Sorry, this is neither cool nor the type of fare found on my blog. But this.

Awesome list!

Poldark!!! September 25!

Cool Book of the Week: 'The Unofficial Guide to Crafting the World of Harry Potter' by Jamie Harrington is a cooooooool book we picked up a couple of weeks ago and THIS BOOK IS FUN and a must if you're a fan of anything Harry P. We've made the pencil wands and friends, I will follow up and do a post on this book and show you our pencil wands because they are neat neat neat! Julia wants to make several of the crafts for Christmas presents for her pals. Really interesting crafts, like a Remembrall Ring, Butterbeer lip balm, a Pensieve paper clip dish, a Marauders Map mug, a House Colors tie dye t-shirt, crafts for school, crafts for one's room, potions ornaments and on and on. We'll be having fun with this one for a LONG time. Julia is so wanting to make a golden snitch necklace but that one is a bit tricky and we need some wire cutters from the craft store.

Have a lovely weekend! Are you having Olympics fever? There's all these movies I've been wanting to watch with the kiddo but we can't because we have to watch the Olympics and The Great British Baking Show, so there really hasn't been time for anything else.

  2. Melissa,

    You're fun.

Thank you for referencing a totally reprehensible and disgusting cultural habit white people have of letting our "boys" be "boys" at the expense of another person's safety and dignity.

    See ya soon.

  3. Yes, what she said (Allison!)!!!!! Plus you're killing me with that rustic garden retreat! I just showed my husband and asked him to build one for me in my garden and he looked at me like I had 6 heads. But I'll keep working on him! Happy Weekend, Melissa!

    1. Oh I know! I can't wait to show the pix to my husband. He'd be like, but you have a perfectly suitable house in which to sit and drink tea, why would you need such a thing?? He does not UNDERSTAND. ;)

  4. Oh no. Now I have to start contemplating whether or not I even want to watch Poldark! I thought the season was kind of hit and miss last year but the last show was interesting enough to think I might want to watch it again. What a conundrum!
